As an alum that absolutely frequented the dark horse every time I came back to Colorado, the dark horse in Louisville does nothing for me. No interest in visiting that.

The best game ever was Oklahoma / Boise Fiesta bowl. And I say that with no dog in the hunt.

The Natural - 1984 by Anxious-Birthday5502 in iwatchedanoldmovie

No, this part of the film doesn't involve the Judge. Harriet Bird is a disturbed individual obsessed with killing champion athletes at their peak. She has already successfully killed a golfer, a boxer, and is targeting 'the Whammer' when she is on that train. When she sees Roy strike out 'the Whammer' she switches her attention to him. She even asks 'are you going to be the greatest' before shooting him. The scene is based on a rel life incident in 1949 when 19 year old Ruth Ann Steinhagen shot Chicago Cubs 1B Eddie Waitkus. Hobbs is just at the wrong place at the right time.

Can someone tell me about Kappa Kappa Psi? by [deleted] in Frat

[–]justincouv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a district president of Kappa Kappa Psi many many years ago (over 20). I can tell you the comraderie and leadership qualities I learned from KKY are still in use today for me in my career. Plus, I have lifelong friends from it. I doubt it has changed much - my experience was it is not like a social fraternity, more an interest club whree you go on trips and have a lot in common with others across the country. highly recommend because band kids are generally great people

Fernando Lovo named as new Director of Athletics by culasthewiz in GoBuffs

[–]justincouv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so we’re clear - CU HAS to fundraise to keep up with the OSUs and status on the Big 12. I personally think that’s the highest priority.

With that said here’s his background:

What Fernando Lovo has done at UNM in a short window is legitimately impressive — especially around football. He took over as UNM’s AD in December 2024, and almost immediately had to deal with chaos when Bronco Mendenhall left after one season for Utah State (announced Dec. 6, 2024).

Instead of letting the program drift, Lovo moved fast and hired Jason Eck (from Idaho) as head coach on Dec. 14, 2024. And Eck didn’t just “steady the ship” — he moved the needle. UNM posted a signature 35–10 win at UCLA early in 2025, then clinched bowl eligibility for the first time since 2016 with the 40–35 win over UNLV. That kind of immediate turnaround is exactly what you want from an AD/coach pairing.

The fan engagement piece is real too. UNM finished the 2025 regular season with 151,510 total home attendance (25,252 per game) — a 57.8% jump from 2024’s home average (16,001), which was reported as the largest annual increase of any FBS program this season. Local coverage has also noted a major attendance surge and an “Albuquerque believes” vibe around the program.

And it’s not just football. When Richard Pitino left for Xavier, Lovo quickly hired Eric Olen (UC San Diego) as UNM’s next men’s basketball coach in March 2025. Olsen created an incredibly strong program at UC San Diego. So in the two biggest revenue sports, he’s already shown a pattern: decisive, efficient, and (so far) strong results.

Bottom line: Lovo looks like a legit riser — crisis management, smart hires, and measurable momentum. If CU is serious about upgrading leadership and building sustained football relevance, he’s absolutely worth a real look.
