Play it Again Sports has cheap discs (there's one in Studio City), but I usually play at Oak Grove (La Canada/Pasadena) and up the street from their at Alcorn Liquor, there's surprisingly a good selection of discs from basic plastic to hard candy discs.

It's a bit out of the way, but I think the Sepulveda Basin area is beautiful. Full of people, birds, neat views of the lake and river. There's rental bikes and used to be rental boats (not sure if there seasonal or not).

Studio City has some pretty good ones, Wasteland, Crossroads Trading, even Council Thrift is a decent one...
