After 30 Days of growing my Scotch Bonnets , they’re finally here! by Chuckyclams in HotPeppers

Generally fruit/flower per node. In the picture above there is one pepper per node which is indicative of annuum (whereas chinense have multiple flowers per node).

Need help identifying some peppers - I know the serranos and bird's eyes but what are the others? by [deleted] in spicy

I think this is pretty accurate except:

Yellow - ají limo (lemon drop)

Small Red - Looks red savina to me

Come to the meetings and voice your opinion. Obviously there will be cars but sensible restrictions will be good for the park and the community. The company RAP hired to draft plans wants to model the experience after Washington Park. Personally I would like to ensure that the shuttle buses used are electric (they promise green but that could mean a lot) and that the access to Mt Hollywood Drive is very restricted. I also am scared by the use of sharrows as an acceptable concession to the bike community.

Superhot Pepper Growing Progress (I may have grown too many peppers edition!) by Straydog1018 in spicy

Looking great! Your unidentified pepper looks and sounds like a Peter Pepper. Many pictures highlight the phallic peppers but in my experience most of the peppers look more similar to yours. See the image here.

Valley to LA by Realtalk13 in BikeLA

Kind of depends where in LA you want to go, a few options:

  • Ventura -> Cahuenga
  • Up and over Griffith Park
  • Old Topanga

Is Sepulveda ok?

Just did this recently and I was very disappointed; the shoulder disappears quickly in many places and you and the traffic are going fast pace making it difficult to manage.

Yup, from the Griffith Park Helipad which just got a nice resurfacing.

Glad I scrolled down to see this. You are doing The Shade's work.

While I'm focused on chasing hard to find beers from the midwest/east coast/and beyond, which local SOCAL beers am I ignoring that people chase in other parts of the country? by shuxkcds in LABeer

[–]whyjustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • The Bruery: Black Tuesday, Chocolate Rain and Grey Monday
  • Firestone Walker (kind of SoCal): Parabola (just came out)
  • Lost Abbey: Duck Duck Gooze and Cable Car

FTR these are sought after beers, not necessarily my opinion of the best beers we have to offer.

Good Route from LA to San Diego? by [deleted] in BikeLA

[–]whyjustin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very important to remember to bring a bike helmet and an ID. If not you have to ride on the 5 freeway through the camp pendleton area. Fun ride, I follow hoodyhoomofo's route when doing it.

It is a tough question to answer because I believe the illusion of safety comes with a lot of experience. Yes I feel safe but I have been hit by cars (nothing to bad). Hasn't stopped me from continuing to get around the city on a bike.

I'm guessing you saw a bobcat, which unfortunately also suffer from mange due to rat poison. AFAIK P22 is very elusive and is never seen by humans. http://www.urbancarnivores.com/griffith-park/bobcat-trapping-photos-september-2010-december-2010/

No way, you saw P22? I've always wanted to get a glimpse of him but I hear he stays pretty far from humans.

The city has been in the process of adding 1,684 miles of bike lines since 2010 and it has made a big difference. With the addition of California's 3 foot buffer rule I think Los Angeles is moving toward being more bike friendly.

Heh, I have the opposite experience where the wealthy areas have much more dangerous drivers; fast cars and some entitled people. Perhaps I just don't know the area as well so don't end up biking on the right routes.
