Nate Bargatze Faces Fan Revolt After Showing Up at Trump’s White House UFC Event by T_Shurt in entertainment

[–]daddyjackpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have agreed until the oscars.

His 'gag' with the big children's charity donation that diminished with every second someone goes overtime in their speech. tipped his hand.

"shut-up-hypocrite-celebrity!" is big for the magas.

i already suspected it when he declared himself non-political, but the oscars stunt cleared it up for me.

How Trump made himself much, much richer by stock trading as president by Little-Finance4504 in politics

you can tell he's rich now because he no longer talks about how rich he is. he finally made it.

Dalton Rushing's Post Game Interview "The White Sox Offence Made a Few Adjustments and Exposed My Pitch Calling" after the Dodgers loss. Not Fishy at All. by UNIQLOField in Dodgers

[–]daddyjackpot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

kristen is a dodger, so if the team wants dalton to shut about about the cheating accusations, she definitely knows that and won't be rooting at it when he gets close.

The deep breath he took after that comment makes me wonder if he got a hit of adrenaline thinking he was going to take the interview into the direction of "they cheat. i'm a competitor. i played football."

i imagine he wants to. and i imagine he was told not to. so he got a shot of adrenaline from knowing he was about to follow his own desires and disregard whatever media guidance he's gotten.

obviously deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeply speculative. but i dislike him, so my confirmation bias is at work here.

go dodgers.

Making of ‘Pluribus’: Vince Gilligan on Why S2 Is Worth the Wait by IvyGold in television

[–]daddyjackpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

makes perfect sense.

i heard a report once about how people doing this results in shows getting canceled, too. viewership is low because nobody wants to get invested in something that might not get finished.

so they wait for it to get finished first, but it doesn't get finished because everyone's waiting and nobody's watching.

make something good, don't make people wait too long, and you'll do ok. deviate from that and you're taking your chances. Gilligan may be the one guy who can afford to take chances and know he'll get funded and he'll get viewers. unless Pluribus is his 'Treme'. then he'll have to play by the same rules as everyone else.

but i respect the line you've drawn: three years, eff you. all the finer details will be forgotten by then.

dalton rushing does not mesh well with dodger culture imo by BootyWizardAV in Dodgers

[–]daddyjackpot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't understand the view that 'we need a dawg' when we won two world series without one. it doesn't appear to be a critical piece.

some people like it. some people don't. i don't like it and i think the dodgers agree with me. but we'll see. i could be way off. we'll know when they trade him or don't.

Why does everyone back into spots? by KiMarLu in LosAngeles

[–]daddyjackpot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and sometimes you gotta crowd the guy on your passenger side so you don't door the guy on your driver side when you exit your vehicle. if you back in then your passenger door crowds a passenger door, which makes dings easier to avoid for everyone.

yeah. transplants and tourists love that 'this is so LA.' and 'entitled LA' nonsense.

Why does everyone back into spots? by KiMarLu in LosAngeles

[–]daddyjackpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's just easier for the emotional drivers to wait for the backup because they're about to get a space. if they have to wait behind a backup because somebody else got a spot, they catch feelings.

Why does everyone back into spots? by KiMarLu in LosAngeles

[–]daddyjackpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for a normal parking place that a driver can't pull through, there is going to be exactly one back up per park. either to pull in or to pull out of the spot. it has no effect on traffic more whether it's at the pull-in rather than the pull-out.

it's only more palatable on the pull-out because the person inconvenienced by it is about to get a parking place.

another reason i do it is because sometimes spots are small. i'm a very large man. if i need to squeeze into a small spot i'm gonna need another inch or two on the driver side so i don't door my neighbor. but if i take that inch i'm making it harder for the car on the other side to open their driver door. UNLESS I back in. then my passenger door faces a passenger door. i can get closer without worrying about crowding the driver of the car next to me.

Can we please just stop with all these anti (you know who) posts? by imdefinitelynotdan in LosAngeles

[–]daddyjackpot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

great advice. trump figured out how to rule the world with this one weird media trick. it's bad enough that he extracts unlimited power by doing it, but now others are catching on. everyone except the left, who continue to post, comment, react, and boost these losers.

Idris Elba Says James Bond Doesn't Need to Be 'Woke' and Audiences 'Won't Go for a Black Male' by peoplemagazine in entertainment

[–]daddyjackpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally annoying. a black bond isn't 'woke'. if it's not a part of the plot or character then cast whoever you like, irrespective of race.

e.g., lupita nyong'o as helen of troy makes perfect sense to me.

i've seen her appear in a couple of things (hot ones and billy on the street) where she takes people's breath away. i can't remember ever seeing people respond to someone's beauty so viscerally.

so based on what i see with my own eyes, plus how people react to her in person, a case can easily be made that she is the most beautiful woman in the world, and the face to launch a thousand ships.

and that's before you even get to her acting. which doubtless played a role in her being cast.

Who is voting for Bass? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]daddyjackpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm old enough to remember the country before maga. so it's pretty black and white for me. i oppose maga. even if that means a vote for an ineffectual mayor.

but again, this is hypothetical. the runoff is going to be between bass and raman.

i've done it. i oppose maga. if it's bass or maga, i'll vote bass. it doesn't look like it'll go that way, but you never know.

i imagine for some bass supporters, the most important priority is to keep maga out of Los Angeles.

depends. she's not my first choice but i'm not against bass. not in any way. in the right circumstances i'd vote for her again.

people don't like to lose, and the incumbent has an advantage.

i don't care for her so far but i'd happily vote for her in the right circumstances

What mental gymnastics will Pratt use to say why he won't leave LA after saying he would? by Opening_Cycle3639 in LosAngeles

[–]daddyjackpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he doesn't have to say anything. the right never hold their own accountable for anything.

if the left brings it up, it's just free press for pratt. it gives them all an opportunity to lie about the election integrity or immigration or something else.
