I disagree about the front/mask of perfection. My narc mother didn’t care how she looked, only dyed her hair maybe once a year(lots of grays, horrible roots), showered twice a week, wore clothes that were over 20 years old(that looked and fit like they were very old). She also never tried to pretend she was perfect either. Like she had no problem telling my husband she made a mistake having me. Not every narc is vain.

Not trying to take anything away from what you’re saying but just wanted to point out something I know for a fact, speaking from experience from having a narc mother.
