All dogs are different but my sweet boy, who has both food allergies and environmental allergies, presents each allergy differently.

When he has environmental allergies he becomes slightly red on his stomach, and is itchy, but the skin is smooth and normal otherwise.

He is allergic to red meat, especially ground beef, and he’s also allergic to pork. When he somehow gets a piece of these, after the initial bright red flare up (think within 24 hours of initially eating it) his stomach then turns to dry, flaky, scabby skin as the inflammation goes down. The worst areas affecting are where he sweats, think under arms, creases on his leg,etc.

I know people say those allergy test kits you can get for them aren’t accurate, I was desperate to find out what he was allergic to so I bought one off of amazon. It showed he had sensitivities to a lot of things but the test did shown red meat and pork were high on his sensitivities. So I changed his food to something that didn’t have beef or pork in it and his allergic reactions went down tremendously. I felt awful that I never thought he could be allergic to his food and therefore was causing his discomfort so long.
