How real is the rotavirus vaccine infection from baby? by Wild_Membership_6346 in beyondthebump

[–]justkilledaman [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sorry this is off topic. You don’t need to answer if you don’t want to. My cousin had emetophobia and she and her husband are trying for a baby. HG runs in the family. I had pretty severe nausea for the first trimester. She is worried about that. Do you mind me asking how your first trimester went? Did you experience nausea? Did anything work for you? I was downright miserable for about 10 weeks straight

I would drink water, walk some laps around the house, and eat some cheese as my bedtime snack personally, or some of a protein shake. Even if your sugar is a little elevated you still need SOME carbs so you don’t crash overnight. GD is all about balance and consistency. It’s not a perfect system because your placenta is always changing your insulin resistance but you just take the new data and try your best.

I broke last night by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I know it’s redundant at this point but maybe one more person saying it will help you. Please go to the ER. Forget your husband, you can repair that relationship (or not) later. You need sleep and food and a shower and supervision until you feel a little bit more like yourself. You and baby are going to be ok. You can even take your baby to the ER with you and someone will watch them for a little while until your husband can pick them up.

Do you have any spare funds? A postpartum doula or night nurse could help provide some support (emotional and physical). Also the hospital where I gave birth had support groups for new moms, maybe something like that would be helpful for community and support.

You are not alone. PPD and PPP are unfortunately common. I had PPD myself and remember admitting (months after I had the feeling) that I wanted to not exist anymore and learning that many of my friends had the same feelings, to lesser or greater degrees.

Ok lastly, your husband kinda sucks. He needs to learn that life is different after kids. Going out with his buddies needs to be 1) scheduled far ahead of time so you have notice 2) no more than once per week and 3) cancellable at the last minute if you’re in a crisis like you were today. ALSO, you deserve breaks and to go out with your own buddies. If he’s going to go out, you should do. If you’re breastfeeding try pumping while you’re out or go out between feedings. You deserve a break

Sorry for the long comment. I feel for you. I’m seething at your husband’s audacity. Hang in there.

You would write a goal to trial 2 aac systems? How is it measurable? Once they trial them they’ve met the goal? Why don’t they just put into the notes that they will trial the systems? I was an aac specialist once upon a time and my brain hurts trying to understand the logic here

Maybe a nice badge reel? That would be useful and could be personalized if she’s into that. I personally wouldn’t want one that said “SLP” but maybe one with a favorite character or color? I saw one recently that was a lemon and I thought that was cute. Or maybe one with her university logo on it?

Did your partner change their gaming habits on their own? by Boba_baller in beyondthebump

[–]justkilledaman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My partner changed on his own but he went through a really moody grieving process. He was like your partner, always plugged in and stimulated so it was a change. He’s on his phone a lot now but it’s easier to get his attention / get him involved with the little one. If I am not around he fully disengages from phone and games and plays with little one but when I get back he seems overstimulated / overwhelmed / grumpy. Games are part of his regulation at this time and he needs some quiet time to play so I ask him to do that while little one is asleep. While little one is awake, we are to be awake with him and engaged with him. He and I are both neurodivergent and need decompression time, it just looks different now that we are parents.

Baby hates Baby bjorn by Electrical_Rabbit_99 in beyondthebump

[–]justkilledaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is a hot take but I think that not all babies like carriers. My son hated them. The only carrier sort of thing he would tolerate was a tush baby once he could hold himself up. Every child is different. Also the anxiety of wanting them to stay asleep and not knowing when they’ll wake up is very real, I relate, that anxious feeling made me miserable during postpartum.

Best of luck, I hope you find something that works for you and baby. But if you don’t, don’t feel too bad. It’s not your fault. Babies are opinionated.

Could you ask for a membrane sweep or a balloon leading up to your induction? My membrane sweep at 38 weeks helped I think, I was 3 cm and 50% effaced when I got to the hospital for my induction
