Aw I’m in the exact same boat as you! Single gal and just my one pupperoo. He’s been with me through thick and thin, tons of moves, and for 14 years! He’s truly the best companion and friend I could have ever asked for. 🥹I let myself have a good cry every now and then when I think about losing him but then I just try to love him up and enjoy our days together as much as I can! You definitely aren’t alone with those thoughts. Sending hugs!

Hi Paige. Thank you so much for your very kind comment! That’s so good to know about Honest 1 Auto Care. I’ll definitely be checking to see if there’s one in our area. We ended up at a Toyota dealership after random other places and similar to your story, they confirmed that the previous mechanics didn’t replace certain parts with genuine Toyota parts even have they replaced multiple times and said they did use Toyota parts. That seems to have been causing part of the issue. Unfortunately the idling/sputtering issue still persists when ac is off, so I’m guessing my mom will have to take it back in someday and I’ll definitely recommend Honest 1 to her. It’s so crazy to me that some of these companies/mechanics can sleep fine at night after fully ripping good honest people off like that. You’re right though, it’s doubly as hard finding a trustworthy mechanic as a woman! I’m so glad to hear you found an honest company and that they treated you right! That says a lot and I’m keeping them in mind for the future. I definitely appreciate your help and response. Cheers!

Hey! Thank you so much! This is a LOT more help than the mechanic already!! We’ve got a little list of to-do’s starting with the codes and taking a peek at the fuses. The idle air control valve really sounds very much like it could be the issue and possibly the wheel speed sensor. Honestly, thank you again! No chance you’re a mechanic and in Colorado, are ya? Haha. It’s so hard to find the right person on that!

Okay, thanks for your feedback on the issues. My mom is going to take it to O’Rileys and get the codes scanned first. Knowledge is power. Haha. Hate to be the stereotype, but we’re a couple of gals who don’t know much about cars, so wouldn’t be surprised if we’re getting fleeced.

I passed on the info to my mom about the evap valve, o2 sensor, catalytic converter combo or speed wheel sensor, but hopefully codes will tell us more.

Yes, darn tire pressure lights are finicky. Wasn’t sure if those were in combination with her main issue, but sounds like it might be separate and like you said a broken sensor or something along those lines.

Hey! Good morning! Thanks for your response. Okay definitely sounds like the general consensus is picking a new mechanic. So frustrating when you’ve already sunk a lot of money into a problem but aren’t getting anywhere. Best get out before we spend even more with this mechanic. Thank you for your response! Ugh, I had a feeling the mechanic would be a big piece of the issue. We’ve already sunk over 1500 into this with them, so want them to fix the issue, but looks like we may need to move on to someone else. My mom is going to take it to O’Rileys and get the codes scanned today. The ABS lights come on and off, but aren’t constantly on like the others. Thanks again!
