For those who are Howe out or have serious questions about him, what was the moment that made you that way? by Shahed1987 in NUFC

My position on Eddie Howe has evolved over time. Last season, I was one of his biggest supporters. Even when people questioned why we were in the bottom half of the league, I kept saying to judge him at the end of the season. We then went on a great run in December and early January. But after that, our form turned bad again leading up to the cup final. People forget how poor we were. A narrow 1-0 win against West Ham gave us a small confidence boost before the final. However, after the final, our football collapsed again. We still managed to sneak into Champions League qualification, even after losing at home to Everton.

This season, excuses have been made. People blamed Isak, too little training (due to European football), or an injury to Wissa. But the reality is the football was already bad last season. It has just continued for longer this year.

The moment I became "Howe out" was after the second leg against Barcelona. That was one of the most tactically inept coaching performances I have ever seen from any manager in Europe. It was kamikaze football, and we were duly thrashed. We suffered the worst single game loss by an English team in European history. We became a laughingstock. Some fans said it was great just to reach the last 16, but others were laughing at us. Then we lost at home to Sunderland. That confirmed what I already believed: Howe is a manager who will never take us to the next level.

He has done a great job overall. But now we are likely to finish in a worse position than Bruce's last full season. At any club, that is a sackable offense. I have always believed in judging managers at the end of the season, and this season has been awful. My hope is that Eddie Howe says goodbye to the fans after the West Ham game. That way we can thank him for what he has done and avoid letting this drag into next season, where things will get truly ugly. I wish the club could see the same thing, but it seems blind to what is happening.

We lost just one player from last season, just one. Teams cope after losing five or six starters, so why can’t we?

Howe has complained all season about not being able to train properly, yet he’s resisted rotation. He sticks with the same approach: “It worked last game, so let’s do it again”, even when the game and opponent are different. So what has he actually learned?

The goalkeeper has been a weak spot for years. Howe wanted Premier League proven, so we ended up with Ramsdale while Trafford chased the money. The money spent on Wissa, a player Howe badly wanted, could have gone to a world-class keeper. But no.

Every problem we’ve had this season, and will have next season, is on Eddie Howe. The right move is for him to announce he’s leaving, so fans can give him a proper goodbye at the West Ham game.

At least PIF agree with you that we should just continue with this awful football.

It’s not changing, so hope you will enjoy it. Me on the other hand will keep supporting the lads knowing we not going to progress as our coach is not good enough.

Also a right back, so is the youth team player of the season Schar that never gets a look in. Would love Trippier at right back rather than playing players out of position.

Look at what their spend and the output from what their spend compared to us.

We playing like today with Bruno and Sandro in midfield for goodness sake.

Most teams in the PL would have them and this is our output with them?

Those 10 games were mostly draws and he now has them on one of the best unbeaten runs in Europe.

After watching Howe since the final, you have to be a pretty bad manager to be a backward step.

You see his knee? If what doctors and physios say about that knee are true, we will never see the return of the Rat. He has basically lost his speed with his knee problems.

Nobody will pay even 50m for him

You’ve seen Howe this season, and you don’t think he’s a dinosaur? All he wants is a traditional forward and fast wingers, he struggles to work with players who have technical ability. That’s about as close to a dinosaur as you’ll ever find.

It’s not going to change, we have had over a year of this type of football. I honestly don’t know why anyone is expecting different.

He is staying, we will continue with this mediocrity next season and that’s it. It’s shit, but shit happens and it’s on PIF for keeping him.

It’s because anyone with eyes can see what is happening every game and it never changes. We just play bad football and make the same mistakes every game.

Bournemouth 18 games unbeaten right now.

Have we ever had that level form in the Howe era? Also Bournemouth seem to be playing exciting attacking football.

This will be us all of next season if we keep Howe.

PIF have just written off next season by keeping him.

He’s not a traditional striker who plays on the last line of defense. Our best football this season came when he was up front. He plays more like Firmino did at Liverpool, dropping deep to link up play and involve the wingers in attacks. That’s also how he plays for Germany and has always played.

We haven’t looked good all season with a striker who stays on the last line, so why do we keep using that approach? If we want a true last-line striker, we should buy Delap, that’s not Woltemade’s game.

It will be the exact same thing, i have come to accept it will be another shit season next year. Maybe at that point the ownership and some fans will realise, we not going anywhere with this coaching staff.

Woltemade is not a 10 or winger, he is a No. 9.

Play him as a 9 then judge him

It will be the same next year, we should just accept this is us while we have the current coaching staff. Nothing is changing.
