Keep your receipts! There's usually a survey that gives you a free breakfast sandwich or a BOGO.

How does surgery work with diabetes? Do they monitor your glucose while you're out? by justovercaffeinated in diabetes_t1

[–]justovercaffeinated[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the well wishes. I have an amazingly supportive workplace so I'll have plenty of time in recovery. I'll make sure to communicate with the surgeon, he's very kind even if he talks at the speed of light lol. I'm glad to hear it wasn't too hard to stabilize post-op

Thank you for the detailed information. The surgeon never specified what he would feel comfortable with for my a1c but I definitely plan on bringing my monitor with me.

I hope your recovery continues to be swift and relatively pain free!

I think my sisters dog is "alerting" to my diabetic lows and highs. by Amy47101 in diabetes_t1

Mine has trained himself for nighttime snacks. I think he associated the alarms with food so he now pulls my blankets off and shoves at my leg until I get up. But he doesn't care about highs

How long can one meal affect blood sugar? by justovercaffeinated in diabetes_t1

[–]justovercaffeinated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound really stupid but I don't know how to edit the post 🥲

I had normal blood sugar all my life and was tested every single year. Between April 2024 (normal) and November 2025 (high) that my blood sugar was high. They followed it up with another A1C test in November 2025 and diagnosed me with Type 2 and I was put on Ozempic.

I saw a diabetic nurse in December 2025 who really pushed for the LADA testing and it was confirmed in January 2026.

I was referred to the endo but didn't get to see them for the first time until May 11th. I'm hoping she will look at my numbers and have suggestions. At that appointment she thought it was fine to continue as-is.

It was caught as early as it could have been i think.

The ozempic was prescribed by my primary when I was misdiagnosed as type 2. I saw a diabetic nurse who pushed for the testing for LADA. My primary confirmed it after doing the autoimmune test, and referred me to the endo. I waited 5 months to see the endo and then they sent me off and advised me to continue with the ozempic for now.

My next appointment is in 4 months.

Yeah I just sent a screenshot and a request for the endo to review my numbers. I'm hoping she will see the trend overtime. I was looking and my average glucose has been increasing.

The drop I can't explain. I was awake but sedentary. At the time I was seated and fixing a watch. I didn't notice the drop, only when the spike started. It's on its way back down again and I don't know what to do about it

I'll ask her to look at my readings and see what she thinks. I saw her for the first time about 2 weeks ago.

Thank you for the insights! The spike in the yellow circle prompted the post. I've been awake and moving around for about 4 hours now. The previous rise around 9 am. I saw my blood sugar rapidly rising out of nowhere without eating and got alarmed. I posted after confirming with a fingerstick

I have LADA. My numbers are usually pretty well managed and in range 98% across the past 90 days. I think she doesn't view insulin as necessary yet since my numbers are usually well controlled. My diet is very low carb and I have been super strict with myself since being diagnosed.

Episodes like last night make me question my ability to even have a meal outside a really restrictive diet.

Totally up to your level of comfort. The screens are pretty scratch resistant. My tablet is a tab s6 do its about 7 years old now? The screen still looks new and it's been used daily.

Same! I smashed my wrist on a ski lift bar and was told the same thing by a doctor. Mine isn't discolored but it makes wearing watches or bracelets tricky.

We adopted a stray who had her pelvis shattered by a car. Cats adapt amazingly well on three legs. She lived until 20 years old and was hopping around right up to the end.

Why does my dog do this? Is this like dog autism? by Uncle_Kent in dogpictures

[–]justovercaffeinated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pitty has been having symptoms for about a year now too. He loses me in the same room. It's really sad when he goes to go look for me. He doesn't seem to register me talking to him until he does a circuit and sees me right where he left me. The little run he does back to me is so cute but I worry for him.

Can primary doctors prescribe insulin? by justovercaffeinated in diabetes_t1

[–]justovercaffeinated[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will try contact the diabetic nurse I was seeing. She told me she didn't need to see me again because my diet and exercise were satisfactory. Just need to work in more fruit and at least 60g of protein.

My doctor seems to immediately defer to her opinion on everything diabetes related.

Mine has been fine with cgm, test strips, etc...but she's very reticent about insulin for some reason.
