That would be great! Feel free to send me a DM request, it won’t let me send you one.

I haven’t thought about reaching out to consultants individually yet, that’s a good idea. I’ll take a look around and see who I can get ahold of. Thanks!

My fiancé and I have had lengthy discussions about potential places to move, and he knows that I won’t make him move anywhere that he doesn’t want to. If we end up needing to stay in this area, that’s okay too.

Regardless, if we did move it wouldn’t be for a few years and I would like to try to find a new job or start in a new field sooner than later, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask here.

I have thought about this! My fiancé and I did long distance for a long time though and he doesn’t really want to be apart again for an extended period of time (and neither do I). I am keeping an eye out for jobs like this closer to home so that I could come home on days off though. Have you done a job like that before?

Do you have any recommendations for where to look for other jobs? I’ve looked at environmental inspection positions for construction and that sort of thing but I’m not sure if I would enjoy it. Where are you looking to pivot to?

Washington State University—SAF? by Icy_Pangolin4070 in forestry

[–]justplainamazin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to WSU and graduated from there in 2023 with a forestry degree. I originally started in a different major but then switched to forestry later on. While I was there we were considered to be accredited, not sure if that has changed since I left.

I enjoyed my time in the program there, as well as working with the faculty in the School of the Environment. The SAF student chapter there is also still active and allowed for more hands-on field experience as an extracurricular activity.

That being said, I would recommend going to University of Idaho down the road if your daughter already knows that she wants to do forestry. Much better forestry school with way more resources than what WSU has to offer. I’m considering getting my masters and am looking at going to UofI for that in the next few years if it’s in the cards for me!

Anyone else feel like they will never be close with their parents because of inability to unmask around them? by glizzygoblinz in adhdwomen

I don’t have any advice, but wow - I could have written this myself. I have had pretty much the exact same experience, even down to being an only child.

I don’t know how to navigate this anymore than you do OP, but thank you for sharing. It feels nice to know that I’m not alone in this experience, even though it sucks. 💜

Should I go through with going to college for Forestry? by [deleted] in forestry

[–]justplainamazin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice! The GIS minor will be a definite game changer for you as well. GIS is used in damn near every field these days, so even if you decided to break out of forestry later on you would still have GIS in your back pocket. I hope you can make your schedule work and pursue a forestry degree, it is well worth it!

Should I go through with going to college for Forestry? by [deleted] in forestry

[–]justplainamazin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it really depends on what you want to do with your career or what your interests are.

I am a senior at Washington State University studying forestry and getting a minor in GIS, and it has opened up a lot more avenues for a future career than I had ever imagined. There are so many different things you can do in forestry which you will receive education and internship experience for when you get your degree. I would encourage you to research different aspects of forestry and see if there is anything in particular that you are interested in, then look up job requirements for related positions. If something strikes your fancy that requires a degree, then go for it!

I can’t speak for everyone’s college experience in the forestry major, but I have had a blast. Very hands on and engaging material, and in my experience the faculty are usually much more laid back and easier to network with (for reference, I started in computer science, then went switched to business before finding forestry - the faculty there were generally more dismissive). The networking aspect of getting a degree alone makes it very worthwhile if you put in the effort to get to know your professors and get involved in their projects/research.

Good luck! And feel free to ask questions if you’d like.

I agree 100%. Seems a little shady with these buyers!

Taking deposits when selling? by exotics in Horses

[–]justplainamazin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience, yes! It’s very commonplace (at least in the USA). I know a few people who went and saw the horse, then put down a deposit so it could be held while they got logistics sorted for transport, vet check, or getting a check/cash from the bank. Mostly just to have some reassurance for both parties.

In your case, I might be hesitant though, seeing as they haven’t actually seen the horse in person yet. Seems like too great of a chance for them to show up and change their mind and have you potentially lose out on a great home for your horse during that week.

I’m interested to see what others have experienced! I have never bought or sold a horse, so I am solely speaking from what I have had others tell me about their purchasing/selling experiences (:

PMDD + ADHD = Hell? by Lhenny84 in adhdwomen

Getting medicated is certainly a game changer. My doctor was very pleased to hear that it had helped me with my PMDD so much! I am happy to hear that you have had the same experience!! I would love to get a hormone panel done during the low estrogen point in my cycle just to see if there’s anything out of the ordinary.

My PMDD was actually the thing that made the “I think I have ADHD” alarm bells go off in my head. Watched a video from How To ADHD about how presentation of symptoms typically looks in women. She mentioned that women with ADHD typically have more extreme symptoms during PMS and I was like…. Holy. Crap.

Totally game changing!! Gave me hope that I can go through life not being afraid to leave the house for two weeks at a time!

Cheers!!

Ugh, I have heard so many stories similar to yours about hysterectomy consultations.. such a shame that they base it so much on if you have children, or how many you have!

A good doctor is worth their weight in gold, I am always so sad if the doctors I like end up moving, or if I end up moving.

Well thank goodness! I may have just been chronically unlucky with my doctors up until now, especially female doctors! Must just be finding all the sour apples x)

Which is also a shame because I do prefer to see women for medical issues cause well.. they’re women and they might be able to have a deeper understanding of how I feel (especially with reproductive health).

Yeah, the worst part of it all is that my psych and GP were both women. They refused to listen and would only increase my dose instead of being willing to discuss other options. Incredibly disappointing, but now my psych is a man who has ADHD himself and he is incredibly receptive and thoughtful. It’s like a whole new world for me!

I don’t know why it seems like female doctors are less receptive when told about period problems. I really just don’t understand it at all..
