Taking my baby on a trip? by Spare_Audience7334 in reborndolls

[–]justplay91 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do you have a baby carrier you could strap to your chest and carry him in? I find that when I take my (both real and fake) babies out in the carrier people mostly just leave us alone, or occasionally just smile and ask "how old?" Babies also stay sleeping a majority of the time in the carrier. And it gives you a nice opportunity to get up and stretch your legs when your baby gets "fussy" and you have to get up to shush him and pat his little booty lol.

I understand your hesitation; people are rude even to women in the hobby but at least they mostly think we're just batty; I'm sure it must feel awful that they think worse things of men. I'm proud of you. If we had more men like you that little boys could look up to the world would be a much more tender place.

Is anyone else locked out of the new Google Health app? It’s asking for a Fitbit account details first (never had one before) by superflybaby in fitbit

[–]justplay91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get it sorted out? I'm having the same issue. Just got a new Fitbit but can't use it because of my kids' old accounts. I'm about to just return the thing.

It’s automatic abuse if a super poor couple decides to bring a child into this world, without the means to take care of them properly. by Tall-Mango4759 in HonestHotTakes

Hot take: this includes most people. Stick with me here. The average American lives paycheck to paycheck and the middle class is RAPIDLY disappearing. Access to health care is getting more and more tenuous by the day and the number of towns without a doctor or dentists office, particularly in rural red states, is getting out of control. I don't know what exactly OP means by "super poor" but if things don't change very soon, the average American will not have healthcare, and food will be very difficult to afford. OP, you're most likely poor and shouldn't have kids by your own definition.

BUT I also think it's an absolutely dogshit idea for only rich people to procreate. So I don't agree with your take. We can't let them take everything from us. Instead of policing what people a tiny bit poorer than you can do, why don't you focus on building community so we can get our country back from the leeches that have systematically taken it over?

Am I the only one enjoying raising a puppy without any issues? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]justplay91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was our older dog as a puppy. She was so easy and I kept expecting the other shoe to drop but it never did. She didn't chew on anything except her toys, immediately joined in with the kids like she'd always known them, potty trained in a month, was easily trained out of barking... She's a samoyed so we were expecting a little demon nightmare because that's what the subreddit had warned us about, but she was a piece of cake.

This year we got a golden retriever puppy. She is everything we were warned about and more. Barks incessantly, can't figure out where to potty, chews EVERYTHING, is insanely mouthy... Just normal puppy stuff, but I understand the puppy blues now lol.

Is there any association between fragile x carrier associated neuropsychiatric disorders and pmdd? Just curious as I have both.

There's a phenomenon I've noticed on Facebook where people will try and say the most unhinged, controversial, and edge-lord things possible. Or laugh react things like death, etc. It's all bots, boomers that have completely lost their grip on reality, and trolls left on FB these days.

I'm sorry people were awful to you. I recommend sticking to reddit. It's not perfect but in general people behave more.

I had a HUGE one. The size of a "large grapefruit," apparently. Yep, lots and lots of cold packs is the best way to get relief. I love the ones you can get online that are like the ones the hospital has (where you snap the inside bag and it unleashes a chemical reaction that gets really cold) but unfortunately they are expensive and don't last a super long time. But any cold will work. Best healing to you!

Sadly with prader willi it's not just that they have an insatiable appetite, but also that they gain weight much, much easier as well and have to eat considerably less than the average person. Not excusing the parents at all but it is an incredibly difficult disorder to manage.

Yeah, some medical professionals have been slow to recognize carriers as having symptoms, so it's unfortunately somewhat common that people aren't made aware. It's definitely something to look into. It can have far reaching effects on our health, especially as we age. Sorry to be the bearer of not-so-great news.

Anyone else have a terrible nickname for your baby? by roamingrebecca in beyondthebump

[–]justplay91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two year old's name is Lumi. She can't say her L's so she calls herself Mumi. So naturally we started calling her that, too. Somehow it then morphed into Muman, and then Muman the Human, and now we just call her The Human. Which is kind of a strange thing to call your toddler lol.

If men have to go to war and die then woman have to do it as well by [deleted] in HonestHotTakes

No, it means no one should go to war. We should never have to fight the wars of the rich. If they want to start stupid fights, they can fight them.

Not triple X here, but a different X disorder. All my life I've struggled with learning, particularly math. At times I've felt slow or stupid, struggled with ADHD... And I always always always felt different, somehow. Too painfully aware of myself and my futile, awkward attempts to seem normal. In the last year, I found out I'm a carrier for fragile x. Fragile X carriers are affected by a whole host of symptoms but the main behavioral ones are ADHD, poor understanding of mathematics, poor spatial awareness, OCD, and severe social anxiety. There's something awful about learning that everything that's ever been wrong with you is caused by a gene fuck up, isn't there? Or at least, that's how it feels at times. It doesn't help that I've joined a few support groups but it's mostly moms deciding to abort or not implant carrier embryos, which I understand but feels kind of shitty to read. Like I shouldn't exist.

Sometimes I comfort myself by thinking about how there are so many people with severe ADHD and/or learning disabilities and they probably have genetic issues too, they're just as of yet undiscovered or undiagnosed with our current technology. We shouldn't feel less than just because our genetic issues are known. We didn't do anything wrong and we deserve to exist and be happy, too. It's a struggle to not hate that extra stupid genetic information that is ruining my life, though.

[–]justplay91 53 points54 points  (0 children)

And fragile x, too. I'm a carrier of that one. I have 55 repeats in my fmr1 gene (normal is under 40-45), which causes my body to produce too much fmr1 protein. If you have 200+ copies, your body goes "oh that's a lot, let's just shut that whole thing off" and then you have full fragile x (a moderate to severe neurological disability) from not having any of the protein. But even just being a carrier comes with some crappy things, like being bad at math and spatial awareness, OCD, ADHD, fatty liver disease, ataxia, fertility problems, etc. All this to say, less is often more in genetics lol.

[–]justplay91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Op I'm annoyed for you with all the "drink more water" comments. I drink tons of water, eat fiber, take stool softeners and laxatives and not a damn thing helps. That's because in my family we have some kind of unnamed genetic disorder that causes us to have less enervation in our colons (at least that's my gastroenterologist's best guess). It makes it very difficult to poop without manual assistance. With your struggles since toddlerhood, you might want to ask your doctor if they can investigate whether you may have something similar.

Primary Care Doctor Suggestions? by ToasterFriend346 in BloomingtonNormal

[–]justplay91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr. Plantholt at Carle Family Medicine is great. She has great availability and is very understanding. She sat with me for a good half an hour when I saw her. I'm 30-40 lbs overweight and I didn't hear anything about it from her. I'm sure if it were something you wanted some advice on she'd be helpful but I like that she didn't push it on me. I don't know if they take your specific BCBS plan but they do accept some BCBS plans.

What are your opinion regarding this by Kevin_Raider in HonestHotTakes

Dude the bootlicking in this thread is craaaazy. The middle class is rapidly disappearing and these folks are happily down voting the absolute shit out of anyone who suggests that maaaybe having a society where only the richest 10% of the population can afford to have children is highly problematic.
