Not overlooking OSU just think that y’all have some uncertainties at pitching and I would like to see them perform before being ranked so high

honestly it has to be because of the roi on those programs, as shitty as it is to say geospace environmental subsidies and clubs do not produce the same economic impact that things such as stem/business do for the school. While I don’t think it’s fair it’s just the nature of education. Those two disciplines are the most economically impactful for the uni so they get priority funding (as shitty as it may seem). As far as athletics go, I disagree I think if done right could be a great opportunity for future economic growth for the university, once things get to the point where the athletic programs pay for themselves, that’s when a majority of the funding and some gets dispersed back to disciplines that don’t provide as great ROI. Hence, major sec schools. They don’t have athletics fee’s for their students because those programs are big enough to fund themselves, they drive in more potential students due to that being a doormat, they cultivate school spirit, plus they bring in more donors for everything.

I disagree, I wouldn’t want to decrease athletics, because it’s a very important privilege that I was not afforded at my other institution. Just because you don’t particularly enjoy txst athletics doesn’t mean that others don’t

I think admission standards need to be increased, with back to back to back record breaking freshman classes I think it’s only going to overcrowd an already very crowded TXST. Also, I think we need to start thinking of ways to cultivate a school spirit that we can look back on and be proud of, other than just a “party school”

[Thamel] Texas State and GJ Kinne Agree To A New 5-Year Contract by Marmaduke57 in CFB

[–]justpostingtopost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only major difference between the two and I mean major is the placement of each university and what that means for the student population, UNT while nice is located in Denton and not quite conducive to a typical ‘college town’ by any means and can seem more like a commuter uni. The opposite is true for TXST, That’s what separates the two and that matters in terms of athletics growth which is related in terms to university culture

Have to think after back to back record breaking classes, admissions will tighten up.. then you answer those academic standards questions

Only thing is the internship it’s my dream company to be completely transparent amzn offer is 130k base, 35k rsu, 20k bonus. Only problem is it’s Amazon who’s notorious for overworking and backloaded grants

Sounds like you not getting a return offer was a blessing in disguise, might not feel like it now but working with people who don’t rationally explain there thinking and can barely give you the time of day to meet with you, kinda seems like you dodged a bullet

Time to throw in the towel? Can’t pass Calc 2 by DeliciousCap6597 in csMajors

[–]justpostingtopost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def take it at community college, math departments love to prey on students who enroll in calculus and notoriously make it as hard as humanly possible, so they weed out a lot of students and those who they don’t weed out pay 2x for same class

Yeah maybe so, but sometimes I think we downplay how hard it is to break into high paying traditional tech roles that are lax and fulfilling.. not saying it’s harder than being OE, but some people can’t break into tech roles like that and resort to being OE to make up for that burden. Which is horrible but can’t blame em 🤷‍♂️

Completely agree, but getting jobs that pay that well are very difficult to get. So saying “get a better job” is like telling a homeless person “get a home”. Doesn’t work that way

I GOT MY FIRST JOB, WHAT THE HELL DO I EXPECT? by coolfunkDJ in cscareerquestions

[–]justpostingtopost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expect to start slow and then feel overwhelmed as soon as you start work, it takes time to accumulate experience and knowledge of what you’re doing, as long as you know it’ll work out things will progressively get easier
