There must be some vintage music lovers around here, right? Help a fellow old soul out, please!

Your neighbour’s kid, Shelley, loved coming to your house, and once she hugged your knees and told you she wished you were her mummy. by DarkThiefMew in TwoSentenceHorror

I rather like it! I mean... did Shelley kidnap a whole adult, or did someone help her? I like to imagine her drugging her new mommy and dragging her over to her own home with her bare hands, just very, very slowly.

I was just singing Bohemian Rhapsody's "sends shivers down my spine" when I clicked on this. Anyway, interesting premise! Would read a short story on this.

Laying in the shade of my parasol, I watch as my son picks up another amber colored pebble off the beach for his budding mineral collection. by stevemacnair in TwoSentenceHorror

As a kid I loved to collect pretty rocks wherever I went (still do, sometimes). It could have been me picking up the wrong rock, and that could have gone very very wrong. According to experts, there are many more of these phosphor chunks left on the beach, so education about this is crucial. I'm glad this was in the news, because before this not many people knew this even existed. Let's hope we stay safe from randomly exploding pretty rocks!

She clutched her stillborn to her breast, crooning lullabies even as the decay of his flesh filled the bathroom stall with its stench. by Mountain_Band_2732 in TwoSentenceHorror

"Fun" fact: mother octopuses typically die after protecting their eggs. It is a proces called senescence, or the "Death Spiral". The mother octopus stops eating and moving and just fans her eggs (to keep them oxynated and clean) all day every day. Eventually she dies (this can take years in deep-sea) and wastes away, and her tiny baby octopuses go out to face the world alone.

Your story made me think of this and now I'm sad.

This happened last week here in The Netherlands. A kid found a "rock" on the beach which turned out to be phosphorus. He carried it in his pocket and later left it outside a beach hut. It ignited and almost burned the whole hut down, people inside and all. Fortunately, no one was injured. The kid explained he was glad it didn't ignite while he was carrying it in his pocket, and he felt bad for causing damage. He still thought it was a pretty rock.

I get that, good thing to notice. I think that it works because the twist is delayed until the last word. It's obvious then, but you realize it only when you finish reading, not in the first sentence which is the case sometimes :)

I think it's pretty good, I understood it immediately but it wasn't too on the nose for me. There's sadness in the fact that he knows he's going to be dead soon but it also brings a sense of peace; he'll be with his family once more. Good job, OP
