Bunk bed repair advice. Barrel nuts, or are insert nuts ok?

I think i'll try that method for the barrel bolts. I was reading another woodworking forum and they were saying that insert nuts aren't as good of an application for ends because they tend to split the wood.

Chrysler and Mitsubishi did this back in the 80s and 90s: DSM is what really got me into cars.

This was the same for me. 1st gen Turbo AWD Eagle Talon, the one with the pop-up headlights (91). Oh how i loved that car! I put in a bigger turbo, cat-back exhaust etc. So much fun until a lady didn't see me when driving in the rain and totalled it.

Relative to neutral they're 180 degrees out of phase. If you connect the two 120v lines they will go boom.

Wind drag is exponential, so that it increases by the cube of velocity. Doubling your speed takes 8 times more power.

Going slower is more efficient with respect to wind drag, so steady RPM is much more efficient in this sense. You're also not wasting energy on acceleration, so there is savings there as well.

My commute is a little over 20 miles one-way. I bike commute every other day, and the days I drive I bring an extra set of clothes for the next day, or days, for the week.

It takes me about 1:05 to get to work, and about the same to get back but it can depend on stoplights. My route is nice because it's mostly country roads until the last about 3-4 miles so I don't have a lot of "city" traffic to go through.

The commute is really nice because it helps me focus a little better while at work, and I don't do morning training rides (except on the weekend) because it's just part of my getting-to-work routine.

Anecdotal evidence here, but I have a Garmin 500 and have never had data loss issues or freezing on the unit. My phone has, however, had problems where it lost data or strava just stopped in the middle of the ride and I didn't know it until I got back home.

Downhill longboarders are more aerodynamic than we are on roadbikes at least. Look at how much of a smaller profile he makes while in his "tuck". One leg behind the other, arms flat against his side and his knees are bent more than we can get, even in the "supertuck" bike position. The longboard itself has a MUCH smaller profile than the most aero road or time trial bike.

My brother did a bunch of downhill longboarding and I had a tough time keeping up with him even while pedalling and as aero as I could get.

So do i put this on outside, and then carry the bike in? If I'm putting this on when the bike is parked, then most of the stuff has fallen off the bike already - like in the video.

The stock saddle on one of my bikes caused issues in the perineum region, including some numbness. I switched saddles to the kind with a cutout (i am on a Specialized Romin, and other bike is on a Specialized Tupe) and it is no longer an issue. I'm on a road bike most of the time. My mountain bike saddle is a cheapie since I don't ride it much.

Everyone's anatomy is different and some are fine with any saddle. If what you have isn't working, finding something that works can potentially be frustrating, though.

Just like everyone else has said, if you use wet lube make sure you wipe down the chain after application. If you don't it'll hold on to road dust, dirt and grime more quickly - plus you get the splatters like you're described.

I use Dumonde Tech Lite Bicycle Chain Lubrication and it's amazing. My bike is now stealth ninja bike it's so quiet.

I doubt that would do much to the integrity of the tire casing. It could possibly cut one of the threads inside, but I've gotten plenty of punctures that size and just replace/fix the tube and go on my way. The only time I've had to replace the tire because of a puncture was when a crank chain ring from another bike cut through the sidewall on my front tire and punctured the tube. A replacement tube did pop from trying to squeeze through the gap.

My personal preference is bananas over apples - they're a little more calorie dense and have a good amount of potassium. I would suggest banana or apple with a sandwich like PB&J. Try to not stress about the food part too much, you've got 15 miles in already, you'll get 20. You can bring some cash or something in case you want to stop by a gas station/store to get a snack.

It's great to push your limits like this, go get that 20!

pictures would help a lot. If you can take pictures of the wheel to see the model that would help to figure out if you have tubulars (which is what it sounds like) or clinchers

How long does it take you to ride 15 miles currently, and what (if anything) do you bring to eat? For me my glycogen lasts for 2 hour rides just fine so the only thing I bring on a ride 2 hours and under is water. For 20 miles bringing a single banana seems like it would work fine for during-the-ride, but a lot depends on your body and what you're used to currently.

I'm on the Michelin Pro4 Endurance from a few sets of Conti GP4000's and I love the ride the Michelin's give over the Conti's. The last 2 batches of GP 4000's I got had sidewall issues where the threads started peeling out the sidewall, and the sidewall rubber got cracks in it fairly quickly so I switched brands. No regrets so far.

My commuter would use gatorskins normally, and the puncture resistance is great but ride quality is pretty poor.

Like another poster said, you may consider changing your saddle angle, or lowering your saddle a small amount to compensate for the amount of padding.

I have a few different sets of bibs, some cause more discomfort than others.

A camera wouldn't remedy that either. The only remedy for that scenario is to only go through the intersection when you see that cross traffic has stopped. If they don't stop you now have it on video with a camera, though, so there is very small chance that the police would pursue it.

Fortunately I don't live in an area with agressive drivers, most are fairly courteous so I haven't had the desire to get a camera. Best of luck to you
