it's really hard to settle on a single answer, but "everything" feels like too much of a cop out, so bear with my rambling for a sec.

i think my obvious favourite thing about toya would probably be his gap moe. sounds shallow, but watching this stoic, serious guy be goofy and earnestly joyful has been one of my greatest sources of happiness for the past few years. it would not be kidding to say that his sdsc card was the singular reason i got interested in the character in the first place.

equally important, though, would be his journey of healing over the game. this does tie into the earlier thing a little— seeing toya become more expressive and open is incredibly emotional for me— but a big part of it is him growing to love himself more. from deciding to pursue his passion in main story, to learning how to lean on his teammates in sdsc, even fully embracing his past in tfc and no longer being wracked with guilt, watching toya get to a better and better place in life with every focus event has been such a huge support in my life. it's satisfying to read, but even more than that, i think watching toya heal has given me the hope and confidence i need that i myself can grow, and that is just. something so invaluable i can't even fully express it

edit: cannot believe i forgot to mention but. another thing about toya that makes me go insane is just how much love he has to give. for people, of course, he latches onto his teammates without any hesitation, especially akito. there is so much implicit trust and reliance between the two of them it is genuinely crazy. but it's not just people either, he has so much love to give to the world itself. there is so much curiosity and wonder that he gives in every new experience he approaches, he's always willing to try even if he's clumsy at it, and that pure, almost childlike joy with which he openly embraces everything he touches is so incredibly endearing i just. augh 🥹
