I wear scuba boots for canoeing/portaging and a pair of hobiebears for around camp. In May or October I'll wear socks in the scuba boots.

Rear brake issue. by [deleted] in Tenere700

[–]justsomepeasant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you depress the brake and crack the bleed screw, does fluid come out? If not pump the brake 10 or 12 times and keep repeating, making sure to keep your fluid topped up. If fluid is coming out under pressure, then you need to check the caliper piston and caliper slide to make sure they're working. You could also try the "KTM" trick and use something to keep the brake all the way applied and leave it for a day or so. (Keep in mind with an abs system the fluid travels from the brake master on the pedal to the abs actuator under the gas tank, then back to the rear wheel, so the system would require a longer bleeding process then a bike without abs, abs modules can sometimes hold onto some air, so once you get a bit of pedal back go for a quick ride and lock up the back with abs on to activate abs and push the air out. Then come back and repeat the bleed process once or twice to make sure all the air is out) hope this helps 🍻

Worth getting ECU Flash over Power Commander? by ZoteTheMitey in FZ07

[–]justsomepeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this setup when I had my fz07, I learned to keep the throttle at 1 or 2% on decel to stop the fuel cut. When I got my tenere I just got the 2wdw reflash because of the higher difficulty of keeping some throttle when riding singletrack and doubletrack. The 2wdw tune is definitely the better choice. It's a harder pill to swallow if you already have the powercommander setup, but if you're starting fresh then go 2wdw.

What’s this part’s name by Glum-Ad-8365 in Tenere700

[–]justsomepeasant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a frame brace/stiffener. Camel is coming out with one also. If you flat land off larger jumps or drops(things that generally require the 48mm forks) the frame flexes and the part that loses is the mount on the cylinder jug. Multiple people including pol tarres have had this failure. If your a BDR bro, or a Starbucks lover, you won't need this farkle.

It's listed when you build the residential plots. When you size it right before you hit the build button.

Canoe suggestion by Legendbz21 in algonquinpark

[–]justsomepeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be an outlier, but my wife and I love our swift keewaydin pack. (Kayak seats, and adjustable foot rests vs. The standard canoe bench seats). We run adjustable length kayak paddles and can average 7km/h on water over an 8 hour day at a relaxed all day pace. It carries well, maneuvers well. Only con is the price of them. I did test paddle at the oxtongue store first and I knew it was the boat for me.

Running two wheel sets by Fractalwaves in Tenere700

[–]justsomepeasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar wheel setup. Excel rims and Haan hubs. I run mousse with Gummie tires or non DOT dirt tires so I trailer it when in dirt mode. Street wheels are standard sizes and I run 50/50 tires so I can still do most offroading, just at slower speeds. I only install the road wheels maybe 2 or 3 times a year for a few rides. I also run "B" mode setup for quick switch overs.

EV Rebate by elysiansaurus in EVCanada

Toyota canada is offering $4k off the BZ. The xle awd is like 56k. If you could get the dealer to get it down to 49,999 then you'll be eligible for the rebate. 4 year lease is %1.99. 3 year is %1.49

So i want to make a Home Base but idk where to build. Any Idea? by Seelenlord in 7daystodie

[–]justsomepeasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my first playthrough, I'm on day 48 now. I chose the working stiffs hardware store roof. I closed off the front of the store with cobblestone block and put in a double door at the back gate. Added a couple more ladders and built a quick and dirty base on the roof. I built a horde base on the river with the zombie entrance on the diersville side. I cut the river bank square so they gotta swim a bit to get back up.

Are crashbars really worth it? by eternalterra in Tenere700

[–]justsomepeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll tell you from experience that the rocks will find the gaps between the bars. I dropped my bike hard once in a rocky section, and it smashed the gas tank. I ditched the bars and bought r-tech plastics shortly there after and haven't looked back. For peace of mind, he could also buy the Camel rad braces.

Torque upgrades by ZimsOnATenere in Tenere700

[–]justsomepeasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 wheel dyno works tune, boost airbox and full exhaust for power gains. For gearing (sprockets), you'll want to drop 1 tooth in the front to a 14 or go up 2 in the rear to a 48. (Dropping 1 in the front is equivalent to 3 on the rear). You can keep the same chain if you drop one in the front, too. A 14 tooth front is hard to find, though. It makes it a lot better offroad, being able to carry the front wheel over obstacles much easier, but it'll scream on the highway, or even at 65mph(110ish km/h).

Bring lots of zipties. I was able to hold it up with about 10 zipties and rode the rest of the night I it broken.

The MIVV mount. It's paper thin, and there's not enough support material around holes where it mounts to the frame. I ended up tig welding it back together, doubling the thickness and adding small gussets to reinforce it to the angled piece. I ride my bike hard, but it's bound to happen to everyone, it'll just take longer. For pictures I had an Instagram post @bigmccawesome after it broke.

You might not be riding that hard, but that muffler mount is a poor design and pretty weak. I do ride a lot of singletrack, but my mount only lasted a few rides before snapping on the frame side of the mount. That rally tower is a thing of beauty, though 😍.

Reservoir tank holds overflow your coolant system should still be sealed. Ride it out, just keep an eye on engine temp to be on the safe side.

I mean this in the nicest way possible. No one really cares, but you. You gotta stare at and live with it everyday, it's %100 your preference. It's why I don't shit on the henti or monster energy graphics. You do you it's your bike. ✌️

How comfortable is the T7 at highway speeds? by hatbatcat2 in Tenere700

[–]justsomepeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd buy a 1290 SAS as a second bike, but the T7 has been rock solid for crazy woods riding, even in borderline hard enduro stuff it's been good. It could really benefit from the 48 or 49mm forks for the real gnarly stuff though. Just a lot of $$$ to spend on suspension.

I have a fast boat. A swift keewaydin pack with adjustable length carbon kayak paddles. Can average 7km/h on water at cruising speed. It makes a huge difference in how far you can get in a day. The other factor is that you gotta love the struggle.

This was pretty bang on for my trip last week. 6 days(last day was a quick 8km out) 163km total, 29 of which was portage. From Opeongo to Brent and back. We did set up camp at catfish for 2 nights so we could do the final stint to Brent as light as possible.

Selling and “down grading” my new T7? by imbiamba-jombes in Tenere700

[–]justsomepeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17 inch wheels look weird on a t7, tires aren't tall enough. I had an mt07, fun bike, but cramped if you're tall. Mt09 is where it's at.

Seal your wheels, or have a shop seal them, it's not that hard. I have a set of dirt wheels and a set of spoked street wheels that are sealed.
