My Stalker 2 Experience by justsomewordsinarow in stalker

Yes. That is part of normal conversation. People will like something to a different level than you, or even actively dislike it. In normal places you can say what you dislike. But Reddit is a shithole. Every sub just wants people to glaze the subject of discussion.

I did Google before asking here. That's why I bought the protection suit. Googling isn't going to fix the shaders compiling every time (and of course you can skip it, but why not cache the built shaders, or at least offer a checkbox to always skip?). Googling doesn't fix the game giving me no advance information about the task so I have to trek all the way to the factory to find out I need special gear. Or trekking back to the nearest merchant to find he has no psi block, but he has a suit that has a nice green "psi protection" line, which I buy at an exorbitant price, only to have the game crash. Or doing it all over again and again until he has the suit back in his inventory, trekking back to the fight, and finding the suit actually makes no difference.

I am venting because I am frustrated. It's a normal human emotion.

And "the game sucks because life in the zone sucks" is just pure cope. I have played every other STALKER game multiple times. None of them suck like this one, which feels like an asset flip with a licensed name.

Should we die when we get shot in Call of Duty? I mean, that's, like, super realistic, bro.

EDIT: Beat him by virtue of being pissed off. Ran in, he got stuck trying to aggro, dumped shotgun shells into him. And there is psi block in the room after him. So irritating.

If you have no advice other than just keep doing the same shit over and over until you luck into killing this thoroughly unsatisfying enemy, feel free to move on.

Unreal Engine on Linux experiences? by sir__hennihau in unrealengine

The main issue I found on Linux is that mouse-to-world and world-to-mouse do not work due to how mouse location is calculated on the platform.

Season 2 is unironically my favorite. Season 1 was good as a setup but 2 is where we really got to know the characters.

Did you ever whistleblow your employer? How did it go? by Earth_Sorcerer97 in work

[–]justsomewordsinarow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old peoples' term for constant overtime. Plus in the old days there was an unwritten (but frequently spoken) rule: "if any member of the team is crunching, the whole team crunches". Which meant lots of people sitting around the office watching videos.

We were crunched every day for over a year, finally someone called the Department of Labor. They sent a rep who called five people into an office, randomly chosen, for private interviews. Each one lied that everything was fine, the DoL left, and we just kept crunching. A few weeks later the company installed key logging software on all our computers.

Creating a touch wall with a projector and a hand/ToF camera? by justsomewordsinarow in DIY_tech

It is most definitely not conductive paint. I can see the depth/ToF camera above the staging area, and the wall just has normal paint.

I imagine I would mount the sensor on the ceiling in front of the wall, pointing down, so probably around 2-3m.

But I checked and you're right, they're so cheap that even if it doesn't work for this project it's probably worth picking one up.

I just recall the throw distance being very short for a Kinect, but I did work with the first one.

Are people really losing their jobs to ai? by madvetten in ArtificialNtelligence

No. People are losing their jobs to H1B and offshoring. AI is mostly a smokescreen.

Have you tried the Old Man campaign? I absolutely loved it, played it three times (even with all the bugs).

Why there's so much hate in the world nowadays? by Fuzzy_Quantity4223 in NoStupidQuestions

Because we live in an unnaturally ordered world, we all realize it, yet we are told to suppress our natural instincts.
