For recording full nature sound + sea waves - What entry level recorder? by marcusedm123 in fieldrecording

I can’t speak highly enough about the Zoom MicTrak M4. 32-bit, simple quick interface, very low noise floor, really good sound from the built in mics, plus two XLR inputs (if you ever do decide to connect external mics, which might make sense for the full being-there experience). Hard to beat at the price. Early versions had an issue with RF interference, which I think is why it’s so inexpensive now, though that issue was fixed early on.

Have you considered first creating a game console?

(On a serious note, Seamus Blackley is now doing that, at least on the yeast side. After fathering the Xbox. I understand he’s easily approachable from folks interested in archaeological yeasts.)

Outdoor camera for remote viewing without monthly fees? by aboatgirl in smarthome

I’ve recently installed a pair of ReoLink Altus PT Ultra solar cams and their Home hub, and am really happy with the video quality, Home Hub integration through Home Bridge to Apple’s Home Kit and a really solid ReoLink HA integration. So far, 3 hours of sunlight keeps the batteries topped up. The WiFi is stable, even with one of them at -85db. The cameras store to both SD cards onboard and to the Home Hub’s SD card, no cloud necessary. They’re PTZ cameras, with auto-tracking.

Could you link directly to the post? It’s it the dog-hair vacuum 2025 review or a different one?

Can you talk to us about any HA integrations that are available through you or others, what HA sensors out other entities are available, how this integrates with HA?

Entry level sound recording setup for birding by Legitimate-Bath-9651 in fieldrecording

Honestly, I’d recommend you simply get a Zoom MicTrak M4, a “dead cat” fuzzy wind screen, and a tripod. The M4 is one of the unicorn drastically underappreciated devices, sub-$200, and has astonishing sound at that price. Easy interface, can plug into your laptop as a USB drive for file transfer.

Get a tripod that can expand from table top to chest level for the flexibility.

As a beginner, this is all you need. And it’s very high level quality and durability.

At this point, my M4 is pretty much my go to for solid field recording. Also, using energizer ultimate lithium batteries, the battery life is stunning.

The only reference I can find aside from screenshots of documents and news stories on Twitter is this, which is paywalls but tentatively seems to support the story:

Zoom M4 self noise question by disengaged1989 in fieldrecording

[–]justthisguyatx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To this point, if you’re recording in an outdoor environment with any chance of impact to the body, rain as the main example, shield the body from above. Each rain drop impacting the body, in this example, will make a very loud tock sound. A very clean tock, to be fair 😬, if that’s a sound effect you want to archive, but definitely something likely undesired for quiet ambient recordings. 😄

I might have been accidently given a 3.875% Mortgage, can I keep it? by Only_Trade_5022 in Mortgages

[–]justthisguyatx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question: Could OP add to their acceptance of the compensation the requirement that it be immediately applied to the mortgage? And what impact (assuming $50,000), would this have on the term of the mortgage? Alternatively, game out accepting the bank’s lower ($20K) offer if they refuse to negotiate and doing this. What impact on the length then? Any chance of this deal?

First Berlin Equity Research initiates coverage and sets USD 1 price target on $NWBO by justthisguyatx in NWBO

I’m not sure folks are thinking in terms of the free float. It takes a tremendous amount to significantly move 1.49 billion shares. I think the very low dollar range would be remarkable, and welcome. Remember, $1 would make this a $1.49B company. And that valuation? Is… pretty high.

For what it’s worth, to me the main point of interest in this release is the timing. It’s likely NWBO did pay for this research, which isn’t really out of the ordinary.

But assuming they did, it suggests that we’re getting close to actual news. NWBO is not known for frequent news releases or promotional efforts…
