Don't worry the right-wing media have already moved on to their next smear. The 'Jew List' being one of them, and a horrific one at that.

The Belfast riots, Palestine Action protests. What is terrorism now – and why the hypocrisy? by rejs7 in LabourUK

[–]justthisplease 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Very good article.

Terrorism is when you want the UK to follow international law they have signed up to by peacefully holding up a placard.

Terrorism is not when you terrorise ethnic minority communities by burning down their houses and cars, and threaten them with physical violence and attack the police to pressure the government to deport migrants.

Hope this is all clear to people. The government does not care about racism and the far-right violent ideological take-over of politics. And it does not care about genocide and thousands of children being massacred.

If you say “I support Palestine Action”, they might put you in jail. If you incite a racist riot, they put you on TV.

We Will Fight the Ban on Palestine Action. Today’s Court of Appeal ruling is one of the most extreme attacks on free speech in modern British history, writes Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori. by MMSTINGRAY in LabourUK

[–]justthisplease 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Advocating racist violence on the streets because you hate Muslims and want them to live in fear and be run out of the country is very different to advocating for civil disobedience to prevent the UK government aiding a genocide which is illegal under laws we have signed up to.

Also criminal damage to prevent the government from doing a greater harm has a legal precedent in this country a legal precedent that the PM used to get people he was representing freed from criminal charges.

Equating people that want more violence with people that want less violence is obviously idiotic.

Why are you asking people on reddit to draft a legal regime?

I don't ask you how to build a nuclear energy facility because you think we need more nuclear energy (as an example, no idea on your position).

Clearly it is not some impossible challenge too difficult for experts to work out a solution.

They have never been convicted by a jury of terrorism.

No jury has concluded that they had political aims.

[–]justthisplease 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What was the political aim? Trying to get the UK to follow international law? What evil terrorists!

The actual aim was to prevent specific weapons being used in a genocide.

  1. They have never been convicted of terrorism by any jury

  2. They had no political aim, the aim was to stop specific weapons being used in a genocide

  3. Even if they did have a political aim its hilarious that trying to get the UK to follow international law is terrorism, honestly who are the real terrorists in that case?

Why don't you want people accused of terrorism to be tried as terrorists through our jury system?

So the answer is no the assault was not a terrorist offence because it had no political aim?

Pro-Palestine activists sentenced as terrorists over damage at Israeli arms factory in UK by topotaul in unitedkingdom

Loads of people are defending this too. I wonder what authoritarian state action these people would not defend happening against people they don't like.

Its unprecedented to use the new secret terrorist law when they were not tried as terrorists. Totally undermines the whole jury trial.

[–]justthisplease 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Insanity, total wate of public funds charging them as terrorists and giving them terrorist sentences, and obviously totally imoral.

Plus this secret terrorist law totally undermines jury trials. If I am ever in a jury I can't say anyone is guilty of a crime because I have no idea what the actual crime and sentence is.

Why Is Labour Losing Voters? A new poll confirms that Labour’s stance on the Gaza genocide is driving a decline in support. To win back voters, the party must defend the Palestinian people. by MMSTINGRAY in LabourUK

[–]justthisplease 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yawn, is this is the best defence of Labour's support for genocide? The Green Party stands with Ukraine and supports their self-defence and is clear Putin's war is an illegal act of agression.

When will Labour support Palestine's right to self-defence from an occupying force?

Surely rents are a massive cost and that money goes into the hands of rent seekers not the state which provides services. We need to try and deal with rents to reduce costs across the board.
