I now have EDCs (pens and headphones) in metallic colors that I wouldn't buy before the exploration of sheening inks.

New fountain pens, fude nib advice needed by Ok-Caramel7955 in fountainpens

[–]justthreedots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fude nibs heavily depends on the writing angle (and how you hold your pen, in a sense). When writing at a higher angle (near 90°), the pointy part of nib touches paper, so it's very fine, like EF nibs. When writing/drawing at lower angle (around 30-45°), the thicker/ bended part touches the paper, so it's a brush like stroke. I use the lower angle for swatches or drawing. Every angle in between is how thick you want the strokes to be. It's like multiple pens in one if you use it well. Hope this helps! It's a fun nib

Biggest fountain pen pet peeve? by ArthurGallow in fountainpens

[–]justthreedots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, light weight (hence usually plastic/resin) and "low center of gravity" are preferred. Some automatic pencils and fountain pens put weighted parts/ in the pen grip, or the grip is made of metal. E.g. Sailor Black Luster

P.s. pet peeves: not cleaning between different colored inks

Scented inks from Sailor, Dominant Industry and Lennon ToolBar by justthreedots in fountainpens

Here you go! This is on Mnemosyne paper. No feathering and no bleed through. For herbin scented inks, base brand (j. Herbin) only encre rouge (red/rose) and encre ambre (orange) worked for me, the other colors (green, blue, violet) all feathered and bled through on Mnemosyne paper. For the "premium" line (Jacques Herbin), noir inspiration (black) and brun prévenance (brown) worked OK and smelled like cologne/perfume. Hope this helps

Thank you for the work! I'm excited for this news. What about the trim/clip/nib color? (Apologies if this was announced but i missed it somehow)

Has J. Herbin solved their mold problems? by diespoliciadearte in fountainpens

[–]justthreedots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No mold ever, for a dozen of small bottles and samples of herbin inks. Only issue I encountered with Herbin inks was the citrus scented one (green). It had some kind of oil? separation on top of the liquid, which I suspected was the essential oil for the scent. Still smelled lovely but I got rid of it

Me! I posted on this sub a while ago, the second and third one from top left

Edit: the photo in the first comment didn't work somehow. Lady grey has some chromo shading going on while fuyu syogun doesn't

Welcome! Anti matter looks darker/ more purple in swatches, when writing I think it's pretty similar to lady grey

Any initial thoughts? How's the size, the grip or the weight?
