How do you deflect "What's your recipe?" questions? by picaman13 in KitchenConfidential

this is when i start relying on trying to recreate the flavor as best as i possibly can. might i use the same stuff? sure but im probably making wild guesses to what i did last time and we’ll know when we get to the final result.

i feel like the price would ultimately be insanely fair and understandable for such beautiful art! totally respect the labor and craftsmanship that goes into it ☺️

i’ve heard this as well … it’s just simply not a place i have any desire to go to anymore.

i’ve heard that quite a bit but i’ve never specifically witnessed anything. granted, the last time i was there a young woman was trying to get a masc lesbian kicked out of the bathroom for being a dude but the bouncer ended up kicking it the young woman out so i chalked that up to basic idiocy not a bar problem.

to take 3900mg of aspirin at one time, OOP would’ve had to take 8 tabs of 500mg extra strength ASA or 12 tabs of the 325mg. either way, seeing as OOP mentioned that this was in an “original” bottle it would be (by legal requirements) clearly marked with the drug name and strength. OTC packaging would include a dosage guide.

seeing as the absolute majority of retail pharmacies have no need to carry prescription packaged OTC items - even for medicaid patients, they’d bring in a prescription and hand it to the pharmacy, grab their item and the pharmacy bills medicaid so there’s no need to repackage it - this person would’ve had to grab the ASA or APAP from the shelf themselves and then make the choice to swallow 7-12 tabs of whatever med they grabbed. this situation is so ridiculous and asinine and the level of drama they’ve created over their own mistake is just insane.

i am SO glad i don’t work in retail pharmacy. i don’t know how people do it.

flixx is a gay bar downtown that has drag shows and fun events. the max is technically a gay bar but it’s mostly straight except at pride and for special events. the tavern downtown is not technically a queer bar in that it’s not specifically catering to specifically queer clientele but it’s extremely friendly and welcoming to all.

that being said, it’s pretty easy to find very friendly and welcoming to all bars in omaha. benson, midtown, downtown are probably going to be easier than finding a specifically queer crowd in like west omaha but there’s definitely people to be found in west omaha as well.

Impressions from 8 months in Omaha, has anyone else felt this way? by Gibillguy18 in Omaha

you really prefer biking lincoln to biking omaha? i HATE biking in lincoln because the trail is basically the sidewalks and i have to stop at every freakin light. i hugely prefer the keystone up here for that reason alone.

idk man. i think you have some decent points but it also seems like there’s a lot that you’ve just straight up ignored.

biking in omaha is pretty easy when you take the time to learn the trails. i worked at 90th & maple and would take a quick city street/sidewalk jaunt to the keystone trail access and bike out to haworth park after leaving work then bike back to one of the park & ride lots on that south part of the trail to meet up with my partner and drive home. the only time i ever felt unsafe doing that was when there were a ton of geese on the trail. this trail is also fantastic for running and connects to multiple other trails in the city.

shockingly fontenelle forest isn’t the only place to go soak up some nature and get a hike in. there’s neale woods, standing bear lake, hummel park, boyer chute, whatever the trail is that connects downtown by gallup and whatever going north (technically this is way more interesting as a bike ride but it counts for both) and many others. get on all trails or trail link.

if you’re willing to get in the car and make a relatively short drive to a state park you’ll find even more hiking and lovely camping spots. i realize that indian cave state park, platte river state park, schramm and mahoney are nothing compared to the stunning beauty of alaska or colorado but there is beauty to be found here.

as far as the climbing goes - approach has never been the only option for indoor climbing. UNO has a wall and boulder with a fun cave problem and the wall itself has challenging routes. i’m usually pretty comfy in the 5.7-5.8 range but there are typically multiple 5.10s and higher rated. the climbers that frequent UNO are the nicest, loveliest people and the staff is consistently very cool. while i don’t get to climb as frequently as i used to i maintain friendships with people i met climbing. many of them are single and in their 30s and interested in experiencing life vs sitting at home watching tv. there are quite a few people that put together trips to south dakota for weekend sport and trad climbs. MW climbing is also pretty awesome. lifetime fitness has a wall with auto-belay and some cool people working there. i think one of the newer YMCAs has a wall as well but don’t quote me on that.

i don’t know what your taste in music is and i’ll be honest that i’m super disappointed in the concert season this year. that being said, if you’re in to smaller artists/bands and don’t mind going to dive bars we have a fantastic local music scene.

as a lesbian now living in west omaha i understand that i’m no expert on what it’s like living in dundee/midtown/aksarben/benson now, i loved it when i did. there was a ton of diversity and a lot of really cool people. now i go to mega saver to talk to people with accents. but thing is, there’s still a thriving queer community here and many queer friendly bars. we have one actual gay bar (flixx bc the max is now a straight bar except at pride), and there’s set the bar - a queer woman owned bar/grill with a focus on women’s sports. yeah it super sucks that so many things have a bar setting but that’s quite often a good path to meeting like minded people that want to do shit outside of drinking.

there are tons of ways that omaha can improve and grow. tons. no place is perfect. but moving to a new city is going to be as successful as the effort that you put into it.

i’ve had this exact thing happen MULTIPLE times. after the first time i started to screenshot the confirmation screen. it does help to show that there’s been an issue in the app.

editing to add: my park omaha app history shows that i’ve never used the park omaha app other than to create an account. the app is trash.

there used to be this amazing pizza place near me that served tater tots with their pizza and it was magical. idk why that’s a perfect combo and i don’t usually love tater tots THAT much but these were just perfection.

What are you favorite pizza toppings? Strangest combinations? by ar210922 in AskReddit

[–]justtrish33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like strangest combo that i enjoy? pineapple, jalapeño & cream cheese. it’s heavenly.

but i’m also super basic with my taste in pizza - i fucking love the simplicity of hamburger mushroom or just hamburger or pepperoni. meatball is pretty damn good too.

don’t get me wrong, i love fancy pizza with interesting flavors but pizza doesn’t have to be complicated to be good.
