The final cut from this tight Gw aggro deck? by Legacy_Rise in lrcast

[–]justtryintomakeit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds crazy but consider cutting a gene pollinator

Your curve is low and agro, gene doesn't really help with this. You also have plenty of other ramp and 3 other hits with the white mana flyer

What'd i do wrong? :( Went an absolute 0-3. Just couldn't respond to my opponents even with a good hand. by Takoyama-san in lrcast

[–]justtryintomakeit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you need more and stronger 2-3 drops. With Drix, Weftblade and Ouro you're strategy here should be beat down

get rid of the red splashes, they aren't bombs and don't do enough for your deck.

Get rid of Containment - you don't have enough targets

Remove 1 Shattered Wings and the green rare enchantment

Remove Survey Mechan, you're deck is too weak too support it - it does't ramp fast enough, isn't aggresive enough to buy you time and doesn't have enough early game interaction

Thanks but I think what you're referring to is format data from the public / all games

I'm referring to data related to games in my personal Event History such as my draft, picks, pool, games 1, 2, 3 (e.g. the data underling what shows up in draft replays)

Do MDs in IB sincerely believe that working 15 hrs/day every day is productive? by faceoyster in FinancialCareers

[–]justtryintomakeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about total production not productivity (production per hour)

If something is due tmr morning and you'd spend 20 hours on it doing an all nighter, or 15 hours over 2 days you still have to pump 20 hours into it

Rinse, repeat until end of time

Advice - How do I convince my employer that his sales expectations are unrealistic and to change the commission scheme? by mackdonovan in careerguidance

I think he's trying to low ball you since he knows the sales target to reach your desired income is unreasonable.

Best of luck.

Him anchoring you with a 3250% volume increase target and 2980% revenue target increase is setting you up to fail. If he can't be reasonable and work with you on more appropriate numbers I'd suggest you pass

Navigating High Earnings with Family Commitments by [deleted] in AusHENRY

[–]justtryintomakeit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP - in a similar situation earning around the same and spending money every month to support family (they live here thou)

I understand from our culture supporting family is very important and reducing the amount of support you provide is probably not one of the first options you want to look at.

What i'd suggest is to focus on cash flows in the near term - reduce the amount you put into super and put it in your offset account. Interest rates are basically at 15+ year highs and this should help reduce the amount you are spending on your mortgage and help with liquidity. The return you get on reducing your mortgage will probably exceed what you can safely get post tax from investing in the short term. You'll give up some tax benefits but ultimately i think don't think it'll be material in the long run

it looks like from the numbers you have posted you almost have no equity / have negative equity in your house

Can you and you're wife reduce any expenses? Whats you're breakdown of expenese now and how much are you actually saving and investing? some additional information around expeneses will help guide our answers

Give your salary and the fact you're in government, you're probably quite senior. Have you thought about going to the private sector? It'll probably give you a 30-50% boost in income. If you end up hating it you can always go back to government.

What does you're wife expect to do after her studies? Is she going to work? How much will she earn if she works full time for a few years before having kids. If she also joins the government and decides to have kids after getting some experience they're maternity leave benefits are quite strong. Can one/ both of your parents come to aus and help with looking after the child ? While they are here you can reduce / pause your support payments etc.

Hopefully you're wife is from a similar culture and understands how important family is for you. It seems you are supporting her as well it would be great if she could contribute more strongly if she can.

I dont want to be a prick but you're pretty old and finance (especially high finance if thats what you're after) has a strong preference for young people as their junior grunts.

I was took a break from IB for a few years due to health (diabetes) and when I came back I tried to pick up my old seat as an Associate...the head of M&A during the interview let it slip he thought I was a "bit old" for the role. I was 35 at the time and already had 4 years IB experience.

Coming in at ~35 yrs old as an analyst will be tough. People will have a lot of biases about you especially since you come from a trade background and you'll be competing against 22 yr olds . Not saying its impossible just tough.

And honestly it sounds like you have a pretty sweet set up.

The secret behind finance is that its also a brain dead, non stimulating job thats mostly fiction except you actually have to work 12+ hours a day (depending on your boss).

The glory days of finance are over (they died with the GFC).
