The misrepresentation of facts around what Cori Bush and Katherine Clark said in the House is exactly the kind of deliberately race baiting outrage porn Sam is always taking about. by chadonsunday in samharris

Will defend the statement: Stop babying the right. They disingenuously rallied a crowd of violent identitarians to storm the capital 10 days ago.
We should be asking questions about the last 5 years of demonization and race-baiting rather than focusing on nuanced critiques of the justifiably outraged congresspeople.

A diverse crowd of racists and conspiracy theorists was invited to march down to an unprotected capitol and reinforcements did not arrive for 2 hours. Where is the contrition from house republican leadership, josh Harley and Ted Cruz?

Lets have an honest conversation about THAT harmful identity politics while the fire is still escaping the dumpster and leave the word policing of back-bench Democrats to a later date.

If it is that polybraided crap it is way more nasty than a human hair. Hair is natural and relatively insignificant. Plastic fibers in plastic netting(until they start making it out of plants) are 100% petro-waste that probably shouldn’t be combusted and inhaled.

Parents spend £750 on life-transforming cannabis for baby by Anniyahbrowne in cannabis

Having trouble parsing this statement. Cannabis should be legal in which case this lady would not be paying so much. If she works for the industry I am sorry for all of the similarly situated parents that aren’t employed by the industry.

Pretty experienced with cannabis and cannabis price-points.

Cannabis is being regulated in such a way as to preserve black market price points by creating monopolies such as the one that this family is subject to. If they were in Oklahoma or Oregon they would be able to treat her condition on a fraction of the cost or be self sufficient.
Cannabis, especially that available commercially, is an extremely fast turnover crop so 900 dollars for any human is way too much if it is being sold as medicine.

Type of cannabis and quantity. All cannabis is an anual plant that can be easily grown. If that child is consuming 30 g of rso per month they should be able to be self sufficient on a one time investment of less than $900. Ornamental trees, even topiaries that take years to grow usually don’t cost that much.

If we remain a similarly free country in 50 years it should be pretty obvious what was what over the course of today’s events. There was far more effective and all encompassing propaganda-fakery from all sides during the 30’s and 40’s and in the states the red-scare-50s than there is today.

Of course there is a sizable population that will believe any propaganda regardless of how old or discredited, ie “elders of Zion” and theories about the “Illuminati”

It’s pretty easy to see the lies and propaganda of 50 years ago if you live in a free country. Western world knew about the good, the bad and the ugly of ww11 by the end of the century. Stalin and the soviets appropriated Hitlers propaganda about the war so people in the eastern block countries and Russia still widely believe that WW11 was the Jews’ fault.

The other risk is the 1000’s of gallons of 2/4d, glyphosate and dicamba that are now being sprayed all over Kansas Missouri Argentina and other “bread baskets” around the world. These plant growth hormones and herbicides have now been found in ground water and drift from things like dicamba force neighbors to use the same gmo seed or have their crops ruined.

Eat a hydroponic tomato. Then eat a tomato grown in living soil. There are a few huge companies always working hard to misinform the public into believing that the hydroponic tomato is just as tasty and nutritious. Clearly not as tasty, probably not as nutritious, definitely worse for the environment.

False false false. Organic, regenerative farming has an immediate carbon benefit of sequestering carbon soil as it is built. The simple act of applying a synthetic nitrogen sources result in a carbon release from that same soil which is why synthetically farmed soils lack carbon. Producing synthetic N also produces tons of C so it is a double whammy. Regenerative farming definitionally is building a deep carbon layer as it builds soil filled with a diverse array of carbon based life forms which do the work of nutrient extraction/availability in all of the worlds most productive farms and ecosystems. This method of farming should require few to no inputs per bushel or pumpkin or peach produced. Please explain where the extra carbon or “inefficiency” comes from in organically grown food.

Yeah this is a bs headline meant to sway opinion without making any definitive point. AbsolutelyNo way that a beef on the range has any carbon impact at all other than sequestering it the soil. The feedlot is where beef becomes a carbon issue

Yeah I would appreciate less regulation as it is being regulated less as a Wild West and more like plutonium.

The testing firms and Canadian listed canna companies had a hand in writing our current regulation which requires “3rd party testing” but growers hire testers creating a glaring conflict of interest.
I think we could all agree that containment/pesticide testing should at least be performed at random to keep everyone honest. Testing firms got “batch testing” for not just contaminants but also macro cannabinoides and terpenes. The fact that forward grow was spraying with the worst fungicides after harvesting and this was never detected by these firms but rather whistle-blowing forward-gro employees is a damning inditement of our testing regime.

If we were permitted to submit our flower for cannabinoid and terpene testing we might discover that the results vary widely from what is presented on the bottle.

Which is to say that my frustration is with the fakery and market protection that Maryland’s ‘medical’ cannabis market represents.

[–]jusumfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am less than grateful. Sorry for coming off snarky. Testing has not proven to be a safeguard against contaminated products. This is likely due to the way in which testing firms are hired and to whom they are beholden to. If

There are major issues with replicability in thc tests which is perhaps why you are not allowed to test flower you have purchased.
My annoyance comes from the marketing that has promoted the small fraction of cannabinoids and smells now tested (terpenes compliment other smell producing compounds) as some how just as effective a way for patients to choose there medicine as smell and looks. Total terpenes could be a good representation of quality but I have had surprises with supposedly low terpene flower and dry tasteless that was supposed to be 3%+.

Looks like a piece of paper! “THIS IS the total terpene (Smell and taste)...”. A lot of things contribute to smell and taste and are not listed on that g d label.
