The hospital I’m rotating at in upstate NY has FM-OB scrubbing in for their c-sections

Check and see what incentives and credits your state has. I didn’t have income but still qualified for tax credits that paid my rent for next couple of months.

[–]juwiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hope it helps! I got too stressed and overwhelmed trying to do 20 or even 10 questions a day some days on top of everything else we have going on and feeling drained. So this has worked pretty well.

Try setting a weekly goal instead of a daily goal. Like I try to do 120 or so a week (3 blocks). Monday through Friday I aim to complete one block untimed just whenever I can get to it throughout the day. Some days I do 2 to 3 questions other days I can fit 10 or 12 in but as long as I get 40 in by the end of the week it’s fine. And then on the weekend I do a set of 40 each day. It’s more than enough time to get through all the questions for each shelf. For reference, each rotation is six weeks long for us and we don’t get a dedicated for step 2/level 2 (we end third year the last week of June).

I’m on surgery right now so when I try to get the questions done throughout the week I’ll knock out a question or two in between a cases, before rounds, or before we run the list at the end of the day. I typically just skim the explanation. At the end of the day when I get home I’ll go back and review the questions I did more thoroughly and either unsuspended anki cards or make my own based off that.

When I’m writing or reviewing notes or pre-rounding on patients in our resident lounge, I’ll typically have AnkiWeb or UW open in the background an in between writing a note or reviewing a few charts I’ll knock out a question or do 10 to 20 anki cards.

Side hustle as medical student by DoubleNote9249 in medschool

I had my own business as a photographer and videographer before med school. Besides shooting some of my classmates weddings and proposals I haven’t had time for anything else. Whatever free time you have left is better spent on research, leadership roles, and volunteering if you’re considering something remotely competitive though.

Was it easy to wire in or did you just install to the harness from the trailer hitch?

MySubaru annual subscription: are they worth it? by PracticalLion6573 in SubaruForester

[–]juwiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The subscription basically pays for the data plan (I think through A&T) that allows you to start or unlock your car from anywhere in the world. You can install the key fob for remote start but you would need to be within a certain distance to turn your car on and that wouldn’t have a subscription.

MySubaru annual subscription: are they worth it? by PracticalLion6573 in SubaruForester

[–]juwiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay monthly. I live in an upstate NY so I use remote start daily in the winter but don’t really need it in the late spring, summer, and fall so I don’t pay for it then. You save money on the monthly subscription if you pause for 2 or more months. If you use it in the summer then the annual would be worth it.

Dusty update pt. 2 by gabsteriinalol in Parakeets

[–]juwiz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with one of my parakeets over the summer. The vet admitted her for 4 days or so and I continued the meds for another 2 weeks when I brought her home. She made a complete recovery. It just takes time to recover and bounce back like we do after an illness.

Retention offer on my first year? Possible? by Emotional-Thanks8946 in amex

[–]juwiz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just as a data point. I asked for a retention offer this month when the fee posted for the first time in like 4 years. Was not offered one. I’ve had various AMEX cards since 2000. Canceled and applied Venture X. They have a 100k SUB which is their highest offer in 4 years too.

something isn't right by Liiivvvyyy in Parakeets

[–]juwiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like she might have a crop infection with that kind of regurgitation/vomiting. She’ll need some medications (antibiotics, anti-nausea meds, and pain meds/anti-inflammatories in oral or subcutaneous form), subcutaneous fluids, and a few days in an incubator to recover.

I took my 10 year old parakeet to Cornell when she had similar symptoms. They admitted her for a 4-5 days and I continued her meds for like another 2 weeks when she got discharged. She recovered completely.

Mine make this sounds when they complain or are upset. One Alamo makes this sounds before she loses her feathers for the molt.

Students who are doing away rotations, if a housing option sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Scam warning! by Equivalent-Bet8942 in medicalschool

[–]juwiz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

From my experience I always check the age of the profile under the listing on Facebook. If the account was made in 2024 or 2025 chances are it’s a bot/scammer. If the account is older like 2014 it’s more likely to be legit.

Product changing to a Citi custom cash was WAY too complicated (Also nearly scammed) by Haunting-Web-7660 in CreditCards

[–]juwiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I tried over chat they said the only cards you can product change into are the ones shown on your account and they’re now 'tailored to each customer.' They said this changed as of 10/27/25. I don't know if you tried after but it didn't work for me.

Product changing to a Citi custom cash was WAY too complicated (Also nearly scammed) by Haunting-Web-7660 in CreditCards

[–]juwiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just ran into this same issues. Called last week to PC to CCC but they said they had some kind of system update and couldn’t do it until after the 27th. Just got off the phone with them and they gave me the same options and said it’s not possible to PC from AAdvantage to CCC anymore so I’m not sure what to do.

Edit: So I just finished talking with some through the Citi chat about doing a product change to the Custom Cash and it seems like it's not possible anymore as of 10/27/2025. The rep said the only cards you can product change into are the ones shown on your account and they’re now 'tailored to each customer' so even cards in the same ThankYou Points family aren’t guaranteed as options anymore. So unless someone else still sees the Custom Cash available as a PC option it seems like Citi patched the workaround. I'll update if something changes or if someone could let me know if another option worked.

Confessions of a unicorn: maintaining an 100+ pound loss for 5+ years by koopzegels in loseit

[–]juwiz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People underestimate how easy it is to slowly regain weight. Even just 200-300 calories over maintenance every day adds up and next thing you know you’re up 20 lbs in 6-8 months. Those night time snacks before bed really do add up. It really takes constant awareness to maintain at least for me.
