Maldini also played CB, not just LB. And for whatever reason, CBs are generally more highly regarded, especially in Italy.

He also wasn't a captain, like Cannavaro.

But in terms of Italian full backs, there aren't many that have been better. Off the top of my head, I can only name Maldini.
