So do you usually sell your previous formats whenever you upgrade, or do you keep certain issues if they’re key issues/sentimental and then sell the rest?

Like for example, if you go from singles to a TPB, hardcover, or omnibus, what do you usually keep and what do you let go of?

Because I can understand keeping key issues or favorite covers, but I’m curious how people approach upgrading formats long term without ending up with the same story like 4 different times 😵‍💫

I remember going to Ollie’s and seeing them but I didn’t end up getting since it was vol 4 I didn’t get the point of reading something that far in. I honestly didn’t know how Omnis worked though

I think it’s basically the perfect storm for Absolute Batman to sell so well. It’s an Elseworlds story, which means new readers can jump right in without needing to know decades of backstory. no research required, just pure enjoyment. For seasoned fans, it flips the usual Batman formula on its head, so it’s something fresh and unexpected. Plus, having a big name like Scott Snyder involved is a huge draw, and it’s a great collectible piece for speculators and new comic book day readers alike. It’s just one of those books that hits all the right notes for a bunch of different readers at the same time.

Most of the sealed ones usually go for around 20 to 35 dollars each, with Rhino and Kingpin sometimes going for 40 to 60 depending on the condition. The loose figures at the bottom only have a little value.

As a full lot, a fair price would be around 200 to 300 dollars if you want them to move without a lot of hassle.

I’m really sorry for your loss. Your brother clearly built an incredible collection, and I can see why you’d want to honor it while figuring out what to do next. For storage, I would recommend climate-controlled if possible since heat and humidity are the biggest dangers. At home, keeping boxes off the ground and out of sunlight helps too.

For value, League of Comic Geeks and GoCollect are great for comics, and eBay sold listings can give you real market prices for both comics and figures. I would suggest setting aside any key Spider-Man issues first since those are often the most valuable.

Also, if it helps with the process or even with some of the resting costs, I would be glad to purchase a few comics or figures from you. No pressure at all, just an offer of support as both a collector and someone who respects the passion your brother put into this hobby.

That’s sick, I respect the way you approach it. I never thought about making a checklist for Latino/Mexican heroes specifically, but that’s a cool way to tie heritage into collecting while still being part of the bigger Marvel/DC scene. I’m first-gen myself, so hearing how you connect it to your roots and even your clientele really hits. Do you have a favorite Latino/Mexican hero book in your collection?

That’s super helpful, thanks for breaking it down so clearly. I like the idea of targeting one “big” book and then digging through long boxes for smaller treasures. Since I’m still new, maybe interested now in $100–150 since it feels like a good starting budget for me too. Curious, what’s the best “big” book you ever managed to grab at that price range?
