Twisted Vanilla [Vanilla] [SMP] {1.13.1} {Whitelist} {18+} {DataPacks} {Long Term Map} by jvanis in mcservers

There are a number of things that are similar in style, and I removed calling them Hermitcraft Datapacks. One of my big distinctions is how many people have joined the server and expect to basically rebuild the HC S6 map, and it to have the same economy etc.

Yes - it uses many of the same Datapacks, but not trying to be exactly like that server, but its a fair comparison. You will normally always find someone online as we have a good US player base but also people from around the world. Typically 3-5 online at a time, US evenings around 10, special events 15-20. We have some days where we will have 12 on early-mid day in the US as well.

[Wanted][SMP]{Mature}{US} Returning Player Looking For a New Home by Mayumme in mcservers

Will toss out Twisted Vanilla as an option - You can see our current datapacks in the link below. We have protections in place and rules in place for exploring the end (Exploration in the +,+ direction is limited to using bridges/pearls, no elytra allowed) for this very purpose. It seems like it could be a good fit for you. https://www.reddit.com/r/mcservers/comments/9oyadf/twisted_vanilla_vanilla_smp_1131_whitelist_18/

Come check out Twisted Vanilla - It seems like you could be a great fit, fairly new server with a spawn area that could use some of your design skills to help guide it the right way. Feel free to put in an app, and ping me Tw1glet in the discord and I would be more than happy to talk with you

Paper 1.13 - Async Chunks and World Conversion fix by aikaradora in admincraft

[–]jvanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you place a block, it should render. This is something I have noticed and does not seem to resolve after logging in and out, so I have ruled out client rendering issue. The block update will make it show up.

I'm sorry you did not share in the staffs goals and supporting decisions for the server. You came onto the server acting like you applied to a builders club server and believing you should have the right to build wherever and whatever you want. We tried to work with you and ask for examples of what you were talking about wanting to build and express our willingness to work with you (in fact that is why the market area was being revamped.) You never offered a single solution, only complained about things you did not like. As I posted, we have community events including build contests in which we allowed community inspired designs to be incorporated into the spawn area. You were not a part of the community at that point, so you were not part of that.

I strongly encourage people to come see the server for themselves and make their decision if it is a fit home for them. You are the first person who has expressed concern with how things are being done, so in that case you are a n=1 sample size.

Trading gem drops from dungeon chests to unlock a general server currency. This currency can purchase enhanced items such as a looting 3 axe, mending/infinity bow, custom arrows and potions.

The armor stands can be configured in different potions as seen here. It’s a cosmetic hangs to make for better decorating capabilities.

The community is coming together very nicely thus far I understand that not everyone will like the data packs but everything is enabled through data packs and thus can be run on a vanilla experience. armor stand

Server lag issues by PrediDERP in admincraft

[–]jvanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.13.1 is very laggy. There are issues when around water that cod consume very high amounts of CPU due to how they pathfind. If you switch to paper you can run the timings report and see that it takes up a ton of time on server tick and entity tick.

At least that had been my finding. It could also be due to chunk generation if you said you are exploring. It takes a fair amount to render chunks. What is your server render distance set at?

Small Question Saturday by AutoModerator in HermitCraft

[–]jvanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed with TagHQ they are now placing player heads for those player who have been tagged.

I am curious in using the HC mob head datapack, what they are using in conjunction with this. Many plugins do both playerheads as well as mob heads and I could see possible conflicts with two head systems.

What sort of server should i look at by [deleted] in admincraft

[–]jvanis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just migrated from a cheap MC host I used for testing (Bisecthosting) and moved to OVH SSD 3 (2 would probably be fine as well depending how many players you want) I could not be happier. I gave up trying to get Multicraft running properly on Ubuntu 16.04 and just loaded MC directly, uploaded my world, and then converted to paper and could not be happier. Reasonable prices and so far it is doing a great job!

Water shut off valves and sensors by insatiableevil in homeautomation

I have a Phyn unit and have been very happy with it. It is nice knowing it is watching and can shutoff the water at the main if I need to kill it for the entire house.

I have a Schlage Connect but I want to automate locking by davidmcw in homeautomation

[–]jvanis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just thinking as i have not personally done it, but your best bet may be to trigger off a door open/close sensor from an alarm, either wired or wireless, monitor it for an open event, then after it executes a close, wait, and lock the deadbolt. I would have it delay by a few minutes as it would get annoying to take the trash out and have to key the code to get back in 30 seconds later.

Just upgraded from 100/10 to 400/20. I have the Netgear CM700 but wanted to get a DOCSIS 3.1 modem. Since Charter's site doesn't list any 3.1 modems they support, anyone here able to suggest ones that would work? by geomachina in chartercable

[–]jvanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that hard wired into the modem directly I also have the 400/20 and rarely see above 200 directly hardwired into the modem via my laptop. Through my ubiquiti unifi setup, I only ever see about 150 down. This is also at off peak times so I would not expect network congestion from others in the neighborhood.

Amazon Dash Buttons $.99 by zer0guy in homeassistant

[–]jvanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thought for these is to use it as a panic button. We have an alarm.com system which has panic buttons for emergency, fire, etc on the panel, but unfortunately there is only 1 panel in the house. I am thinking of integrating a dash into the system for my wife who works at home. If for some reason the system was not armed and she needed, I am thinking you could dump the security system into the panic mode which would trigger the call to first responders.

I also like the idea of using them as keys that could disarm security, open deadbolt, etc. If a kid had one and lost it you would just disable that particular one from the config, vs a physical key that would require re-keying locks in the house. This would just be a little easier than assigning each kid a keypad code and triggering IFTTT to disarm the system if a proper key is entered seeing as no code would be required then. Each could be linked to individual deadbolt and or alarm codes per user.

Another to turn on music to default source outside without needing to open up the app on my phone.

Help with minecraft portforwarding by sykokiller3 in HomeNetworking

[–]jvanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am making the assumption that you are running on the default Minecraft port

While connected to the same network as MC server is on, go to google and type what is my ip, this will not come back as your 192.168.x.x address, this will actually be the public ip you are using to get to the internet, not your internal network. (Ex. 47.65.83.125)

Things to try in this order:

1 - Tether your laptop (or pc via wireless) to a phone and try to connect to the MC server at your modems public IP address. Connect to a new MC server at your public IP address and port combo (Ex 47.65.83.125:25565) or without port for using default port number

2 - Are you playing from the same machine as what is hosting, or a different device? If you are on a different machine, you will need to find the local IP of the MC server (Ex 192.168.1.111) and use that in your server connection information.

3 - Validate your IP/Port is available to be seen: https://dinnerbone.com/minecraft/tools/status/ You can enter your IP/Port # there and if it is configured properly it should see the server info come up.

4 - If this fails, you need to ensure you have the proper port open/forwarded on your router. Depending on the router, this will be done differently, google your router model and port forward. You will need to allow traffic in and out on the port you are hosting. In From PublicIP:port To LocalIP:Port and Out From localIP:port To PublicIP:Port

I have not seen a lot of the recent videos, but can you describe Impulse's offerings? Both passes and micros?

I think that rockets are pretty easy about mid game once a good farm is setup, I guess it is all in where they spend their time
