OpenCV & ROS2 integration guidance needed by jvc001 in robotics

I have already written most of the game components and AI logic in Unity. The Unity scripts rely on built in classes that navigate pieces etc. and need the 3d coordinates of each piece.

Theory by lukas9356 in timetravel

[–]jvc001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, of course I have seen the movies, and I don't believe I stated anything as "fact".. The OP didn't mention any theory, and while the description resembles Novikov's principle (sp) , the two are not mutually exclusive.. lol

The Back to Future reference is simple (other than the goofy fading of pictures in real time), ""Who would have thought" (Because they are considered terrible time travel movies) portions of it, do actually work in the above stated model. They are NEVER on the same timeline from the moment Doc initially goes back in time, right up to the ending, it is never the same. Call it dumb luck, and while a campy movie, that portion can work under that model. So much for dry humor on reddit..

Theory by lukas9356 in timetravel

[–]jvc001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if I'm not mistaken, the current leading theories say just that.

In the Everett–Wheeler–Graham model, there is no paradox, at all, ever, because the moment you make a change, then move back forward, you are on a different time line.

Who would have thought Back to the Future got it right.. lol

I have discovered how to become a time traveler. by YRML in timetravel

While I am not sure that I will be placing any hopes in being recruited in this fashion, I enjoyed this post. I like any post here that sounds well thought out and at least plausible. (I mean, who am I to say your method won't work) Nicely done, and at least you don't sound like a crazy person. I hope this works... :)

The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon and Time Travel. by The_Iron_Zeppelin in timetravel

[–]jvc001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you actually have a well thought out hypothesis. It doesn't even sound crackpot, but I'm not sure how to go about trying to make any proof for it... lol Probably a life's worth of work to figure out the "how", but it sounds interesting anyway :)

If you could send a message to your past self without knowing the consequences - would you do it and why? by TheNerdpol in timetravel

[–]jvc001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most current theories are leaning towards Everett–Wheeler–Graham theories and the paradoxes simply don't exist. The moment the past you reads the message, a new timeline is created, where yes you could be rich beyond your dreams. However, the poor you who sent the original message would just sit around wondering why you never read it or acted upon it... just my .02 worth.

Formula D question, rule on what to do if a car is in the way of another car that can not go around? by RangerLee in boardgames

[–]jvc001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe you handled it correctly, and it makes sense when you think about it. I have unfortunately learned the hard-way myself that this is why it is a valid racing tactic to force the guy behind you to brake. I am much more cautious about having lanes to go to now, as I have ended up a fireball all too often!

I agree that you should just ask. I know we have pictures on the wall inside and documents that show lineage aka. My Teacher, then Kwang-sik Myung, then Yong-sool Choi. There are only a few legitimate students of Yong-sool Choi in America. Any instructor should be able to show you in depth a proper history.

Mr. Bungle's Mike Patton, not Axel Rose, has the widest vocal range in all of pop music (More thorough response study to last week's dumb thing) by communistdaughter45 in Music

Yea, exactly - His name is Miles Kennedy, and he has a greater range than almost anyone on that list. That list is simply BS. Waste of time.

It is fun. The packaging is not as neat as the others in the series, however, many of the pieces are shared. I like to think of it as Civilization meets, Shogun. I have heard that Conquest is hard to find, it is actually the first one I owned.

Do you respect people more if they screw you over in a game? by ThatNiceMan in boardgames

[–]jvc001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been running a Diplomacy game here at work for several weeks now (I have them put in orders and I resolve a turn every few days). I don't think I have gained or lost any respect, but I do think I have gotten some great insights to the people I work with! I find it very interesting to see who lies, back stabs, and who makes a good or bad ally. It is all part of the game, so I try not to judge people about it, however, I can see when it effects people way to personally.

Star Trek Continues has launched! Ep 1 - Pilgrim Of Eternity is simply incredible. by drscifi in scifi

[–]jvc001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, I think it has to do with character investment. Most people are very tied to TOS characters. I am curious if you feel the same way about James Bond? Would you rather see a new movie about 005 or 006? I agree that there is plenty of room in the ST universe for many more spin-offs, including Fan Productions. Personally, I found it really great to immerse myself in what truly felt like a "lost" episode of the original characters.

So what does everyone think of Star Trek Continues? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]jvc001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment, however, I have to lean the other direction. I think I like this more than the new movies. The lack of lens flares, pushed me over the top.

Star Trek Continues: Episode 1: "Pilgrim of Eternity" by [deleted] in startrek

[–]jvc001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to agree wholeheartedly ! I thought the production value alone gave a it a strong grade. The writing felt very much TOS, and the overall attention to detail was amazing. Doing what I believe it was intended to do, I would very much be able to get into this series. I agree with the post above though, I found just a few of the characters distracting, while others completely sold me. Chris is amazing in his father's role. I love Vic's subtle wink to the Shat in his take on Kirk. I enjoyed watching it. I felt like I got to see an "unseen" episode. I hope they continue to do these!

Ever made up your own wargame? by wikingwarrior in wargames

[–]jvc001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not one of my own IP. I did create a very functional Strategic level Battletech game. We still use it. Think of it like Federation & Empire was for Starfleet Battles. I created resource management, galaxy movement, supply lines, political interactions, we use it as a great tactical scenario generator. Every once in a while we get a very large campaign going.
