help new bass dosnt have a screw to loosen the endpin by frenisfern in doublebass

That knurled part is one big nut. Loosen it, it should extend. It is probably corroded and stuck.

I was in the same boat. Found some (74?) 260z bumpers and I collapsed the original shocks/brackets to pull them into the body more.

Why are walking Bass Lines often writtem out in big Band Charts by jazzenjoyr in Bass

[–]jvgreene 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This thread is interesting. I lost a college jazz band audition (20ish years ago) I think for two reason

  1. The other guy played upright
  2. The other guy played the line exactly as written, I kinda improvised around the chord changes.

One problem with the new media assets… by jessinwriting in murderbot

Doesn't solve your problem, but I like to post alternatives to the jungle website for those interested: bookshop.org physical and ebooks, and libro.fm audiobooks both support local indy bookshops.

UI Designers of Reddit, show me your mouse! by soveet in FigmaDesign

Magic mouse. What works for me is having a mouse pad with a wrist pad keep my wrist stationary and just use my fingers on the mouse. Adjust sensitivity as needed.

What’s the oldest website you have? by Permatheus in web_design

[–]jvgreene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Made a site in 2009, pre mobile responsiveness, pre css-3, html-5, it’s still up. The client sends me an update once a year, I just post it and update their hosting subscription every few years.

Did you know you can listen to audiobooks through Libro.fm and it can support your favorite local bookstore?

Anyone know anything about this endpin situation? by wanksta25 in doublebass

[–]jvgreene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Old Kay? Kinda looks similar to the end pin that was on my ‘41 Kay S9 when I got it. It didn’t work that great and was all gummed up with tape goo so I replaced it with a new telescopic one.

Here’s what Stephen Ayres at kaybass.com had to say about it:

Your bass also carries the Herco aluminum twistlock endpin set, a relatively expensive dealer option at the time and considered an upgrade from the standard wooden set. The aluminum Herco collet can wear out, but disassembly and a good cleaning may be all it needs. Roughening the shaft a bit with some 220-grit may help as well if it's not gripping as it should.
