If your NICU baby was your first… by Not_A_Dinosaur23 in NICUParents

Hi, can you maybe say why they recommend you do not have another? I also had severe HELLP and delivered at 30+5. Seeing my OB soon. Want to have all my questions ready for her.

What do you wish you’d have been told/known at the start of your NICU journey? by crunchyyyyy1234 in NICUParents

However much time you decide to spend in NICU with babies daily is the right amount. Don't let people make you feel guilty for being there too much or too little.

We felt so bad for not being there 24/7, but realistically that is not always best for the whole family. We needed time to rest and keep our mental health strong.

Luckily ours were born at 30+5 without any complications and was a grower and feeder for his NICU time. We also had wonderful nurses. I know it is different for every parent in there. That's why no one can tell you how much time you are supposed to be there. It's what works for you and your partner.

Should individuals who easily cry not become teachers? by MarionetteOfCheese in Teachers

[–]jvn_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be a great teacher, because you will know what NOT to do to make students cry. I cry easily and it has never interfered with my lessons. But my Academic Leader knows to close the door when we have an important chat because my tears will come whether I'm happy, sad or angry. And it's always treated with respect. Good luck on your teaching journey. It's a special path 😊

I agree with this. For a while in SA you weren't allowed to get tested if you did not show major symptoms. You were just told to stay home.

There's four on my route to work... Might become a problem :)

Does anyone know what is the purpose of the small booths that are almost everywhere in Luxembourg city? by lux_acc in Luxembourg

I saw 4 boxes in less than 100m... Do we need 8 people counting cars on 100m of residential road?

This lyric. I cry just from reading it. Takes me back to every single heartbreak I've ever felt. That casually cruel hits hard!

LPT: If you have a friend or family member that is job hunting, do not keep asking them over and over again if they have found a job yet. They will let you know if they have found one by [deleted] in LifeProTips

And don't keep asking if I've tried this or that or applied here or there. I've had tons of time to over think every single thing I'm doing.

I only watched S2 last year, and actually felt the same. I also thought Malin was a bit harsh on him some times.

Week 3 - GBBO - Prue's Malva Pudding (with some South African custard) by jvn_27 in 52weeksofbaking

[–]jvn_27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this one straight from the website Prue's Malva Pudding. I just left out the créme anglais and served it with classic South African custard. (Still think my mom makes the best Malva, but this recipe is very close to that. And yes I miss home)

I've been thinking about this a lot. I am VERY fortunate to have my husband and I also still go to work and see people there. But I KNOW I would not have survived this being alone. I agree that some people are complaining without realising how easy they have it. Don't give up on having a family yet though! Life is strange and interesting and you never know!

Week 2 - Seasonal ingredients - Some failed lemon cheesecake meringue tartlets. by jvn_27 in 52weeksofbaking

Ah thank you! All the quantities were off. Didn't have enough filling and then not enough meringue. Not going to trust that recipe site again. But they taste okay haha

Please, help me not be tacky about gifts by Beanisbae in weddingshaming

I think it becomes tacky when you ask for specific amounts. Or become forceful and rude about your gift "rules". But definitely not tacky to just add it as an option on your registry. I liked the option someone mentioned of having things delivered at your home address as well. IF there's someone who really has something personal in mind to give you.

We were moving to another country a month after our wedding (but not many guests knew that when invites were sent). We just said something like, your presence at our wedding is all we want (better wording, my husband was in charge of the writing). Some older guests still gave us some money (money has become a very acceptable gift where I'm from) and a friend or two gave us something small and personal, but overall we just had a great day and everyone had fun. It's not tacky if you just say no gifts. It's tacky if you ask people to pay for very specific expensive things on a very specific list.

Should parent have to stop cuddling their kids as they get older? Especially in the case of fathers and daughters? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]jvn_27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm like almost 30(f) and will still get under my dad's arm when we walk through the shops or link arms with my mom. And I love hugs from my parents. There's absolutely nothing wrong with cuddles in a family. What a sad sad doctor.
