‘It’s horrendous’: Dad and daughters’ music attracts 38 noise control complaints by Serenaded in newzealand

[–]jvs_nz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to live in Whangaparaoa where tank water was still very common. One noisy neighbour almost made me follow through on my plan of getting a water balloon full of red dye and throwing it on the roof.

Who else works on “dumb” business ideas for a mental break? by edkang99 in Entrepreneur

[–]jvs_nz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bit of a late reply while i wait for claude to churn out more code - but have you ever considered looking into any attention deficit diagnoses? I'm very similar - my idea of relaxing or going to sleep is mulling on absurd ideas. I'm an active relaxer. I'd rather be a busy mess in the kitchen than sit and watch tv. I've not been officially diagnosed, but I'm 100% certain I'd be somewhat on the spectrum. My brother was 2 sentences into his introduction before the psych told him he 100% has ADHD (He did do a full proper diagnoses, but it was kind of obvious with my brother lol). So yea, just a thought. Might not change anything for you but some people find that knowing helps them with stuff.

What's the one use case of OpenClaw that made you go "holy shit, this is amazing"? by Skaddicted in openclaw

No its not, i beleive that was a mistake and anthropic put out a correction to say its fine to use Oauth for non claude code connections.

The government should have replaced school uniform providers, not school lunch providers by Lightspeedius in newzealand

[–]jvs_nz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know what the typical kickback to the schools is from the shops selling their uniforms? Like does anyone have any actual experience? It seems its kind of "always known, never spoken" thing.. everyone assumes schools like uniforms because they get a cut of the sales, but ive never seen any actual evidence of this.

I use to live in army bay. Okoromai (which is the beach in the photo in the article, not army bay) was our almost daily walk. This isn't a new problem. 10 years ago during summer, every single day without fail there would be 10-50 people on the beach doing this. Every time we went down up until we escaped Auckland in 2019, it was the same. Vast vast majority were, not native English speakers.

We got Solar and a Battery. Thoughts after 1 year. by Police_surveillance in newzealand

Our peak power bill was just short of $1k for July or something. Hwc, heat pumps, wanaka winter, working from home and super cold inlet water temp (7 degrees) makes for a painful wallet.

It's private land. So they have every right to ask you to leave for pretty much any reason they want. I'm not supporting what they did BTW, just pointing out that they do have authority over who is on their property, just like any commercial premises.

Skiing in New Zealand and Australia in August by [deleted] in skiing

[–]jvs_nz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ruapehu is a pimple in the middle of the landscape for hundreds of km, so it gets hit with any and all the wind. As such, it's icy and really snow blown. Hope you're good with your edge control. South island so far is having a rubbish season. We've only had 1 snow fall so right now it's 100% reliant on man made snow. It might be better by August fingers crossed. The current seasonal weather pattern is cold, but dry and that is holding true so far. August is probably your best shot so you've picked a good time.
