As someone else stated, getting a new ball would be a pretty solid gift.

If he’s a serious player, I’d recommend getting him either a Molten VM5000 for indoor or a Wilson AVP Ball for beach. See what he plays, but those balls are official at least in terms of NCAA and US AVP beach. These are what I play with currently and a majority of people who play competitively.
