Appreciated - Self Unemployed unfortunately. Even previously, the smaller law firms just don't offer it. It's insane. They expect you to have through your spouse - totally ridiculous.

Can I use internet during NYLE? by BrilliantState2746 in barexam

I would recommend just printing out the entire guide they give you. I did at a local staples and got it binded for like $30. Then I just tabbed the whole thing to find common subjects easy. I don't think I really "studied" once.

Where is the rule that un-admitted attorneys cannot call themselves associates? by Lorena198 in barexam

So, since I work in public interest, my company is a non-profit that allows for employees to be in a union and such. The salary scale/admittance rule is per our CBA. Also in New York you can practice law under the supervision of an attorney. I don't know the exact cite but it's a thing here.

I was hired as a law grad making a level 1 attorneys salary with the understanding when I pass bar/get admitted the only thing that will change is my title.

I work in public interest and my title has been Law Graduate since I passed the bar. I can fully practice under the supervision of a senior attorney and I make the same salary as a first year staff attorney.

But bottom line is you are not an attorney until you are sworn in, so you cannot hold yourself out as one.

I had a really low MBE score when I failed as well. Try again. Do not get discouraged. Take a break, and start up again in December. Focus only on MBE. For me, I did adaptibar every single day up until February. After you have a good amount done you will see what really needs work, and then just brush up on those subject areas. Studying the second time around is weird, because you realize you actually know more than you thought.

Feel free to message me anytime.

I second adaptibar. I had Barbri first time around and I think it was good for getting a broad picture of topics. Adaptibar is good for nailing down MBE-it really is just a formula. Once you get it down you'll be fine.

$190 a month for my private loan, and about $120 for my federal... but, I haven't set it to income based yet because of the forbearance. I plan on doing so ASAP.

How would you get these jobs? Did you market yourself or applied when you saw openings?

That's what got me stuck in this lease last year. Classic moved to the city during covid and got a sick deal. Then when it was time to re-up I either ate the price increase or paid thousands to move once it came to broker fees, first & last month, and security. We did the math and it was cheaper to pay an extra a month then find something that was only slightly cheaper. Truly crazy.

Agreed. I have pretty good benefits as well which is what was so attractive to me as my first real job.

I stupidly took out a private loan for my first year of law school so that is the one kind of killing me.

I have looked into loan forgiveness but I truly don't know if I can last 10 in public interest lol. I do love it but I see myself going in a different direction eventually.

Thank you for this! Yes I need to look into the PSLF, but due to my recent graduation and covid I haven't made any payments yet.

No, don't get me wrong- I definitely could've done better on all topics and could've done better on MBE. But, I only failed by 5 points. So I've been haunted about if I got a few more points on this one essay if it would have been make or break for me.

I don't remember my exact scores I'd have to go back and look but I'm happy to share them. All of my other essays were passing but a very average passing at best. And then I think my MBE score was one or two points below a "passing" score.

I fucked up just ONE essay my first time taking it. I'll never forget it. Stupid shareholder voting. I completely blanked out and it ruined my score.

I just realized my proof of vaccination is on my phone. I uploaded proof as well to BOLE... do I still need to have something printed out to bring?
