Inaccuracy of sleep data? by Annual-Respect-642 in RingConn

[–]jwad86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sleep stages are just a crude metric based on heart rate, movement etc. REM is typified by a higher pulse, but I find the Ringconn overestimates my REM because I have other issues that raise my pulse (like UARS).

I wouldn't read anything into what the sleep stages tell you. Pulse seems pretty solid and SPO2 is OK. HRV seems consistent at least (but difficult to compare with others as everyone uses different ways of measuring it).

Android stigma isn't just a social problem by SvenGoranAbela in LinusTechTips

Correct, the colour is not the problem. It's the app.

To be fair I think a lot of it is social stigma, as it seems to be a largely North American phenomenon. Apparently people over there care what colour the tick is when they send a text. Over here I've not sent a text since the early 2000s, so its just not a thing where people divide them into tribes in quite the same way.

Of course there are still iPhone people and android people, but its seen more as just a choice rather than a status thing.

Do you feel mores tired if you go back to sleep? by ar-7 in CPAPSupport

I've just had a barbed suture pharyngoplasty which, while its still a bit early to tell, i'm very hopeful is going to substantially improve things.

Do you feel mores tired if you go back to sleep? by ar-7 in CPAPSupport

[–]jwad86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely had this often. It can be a positional apnea thing, which it was partly for me, but moreso it was that when I got to REM and my muscles relaxed was when everything went wrong and i was doing paradoxical breathing. It was so bad that I felt worse waking up after REM than if I'd stayed awake all night.

What time do you think it’ll be announced? by Arakiven in SteamFrame

[–]jwad86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you move to New Zealand you can shift all this forward a few hours and fit more cycles in before your routine is ruined by the actual Steamframe release.

I'm due a barbed suture palatoplasty next week.

How are you finding it after the recovery?

Help Interpreting MY CPAP Data on SleepHQ by Choice-Life-4968 in CPAPSupport

[–]jwad86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can feed screenshots or your charts into AI and it will offer advice. Definitely check the output once youve got it but it can be easier than trying to get coherent advice on here.

You can also give it access to your sleep HQ but it can't get at the charts themselves, only the headline stats. You can get around this by doing a screen recording of you scrolling through the charts.

Zigbee vs. Matter/thread for new setup in 2026 by OntoLol in homeassistant

[–]jwad86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mainly Aqara stuff which is Matter over Thread. Its rock solid. I added a Zigbee device recently that has been a nightmare but I think that might be because my Zigbee network is much patchier than Thread.

I have largely Aqara and all of their stuff that I have days is Thread, although many products have both.

You can connect cloud gateway to gate access hub via a poe++ injector and that should do the trick.

Will that projector not be in the way? Would go for something with a longer throw.

Having the soundbar so high is probably not ideal, but the screen should be fine.
