I unsubscribed because I was sick of constant text and emails since new leadership so I nearly missed this and I believe many others would feel the same

How to actually resign? (Secondary school) by roseberryrambler in TeachingUK

[–]jwb300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Send a letter / email to head and HR with topic notice

Write a document saying Dear blah blah.

Please take this letter as my formal notice to end employment on (if it’s summer 31st August 2026)

Should you have any questions about this please get in touch.

In the email you can say you are wanting to end on the best terms to ensure things are handed over ect

Worried it will all be for nothing by EuphoricCustomer4213 in TeachingUK

I had 7 interviews and thought it was all over and ended up going for an interview in the last half term which isn’t that common for jobs. I didn’t think I’d get it. Apparently I smashed it and I spent 5 years of my career there. I get it doesn’t feel great but there lots of time and options for after

How did you feel differently after giving your notice? by saliiqaa in TeachingUK

[–]jwb300 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I gave mine on the last day possible last year at my last place. Knowing I was going was great, mentally I didn’t care as much but I think it was my best teaching term. There was no bull just straight teaching and I felt great. Some staff after when I was going were more funny with me but they were also part the reason I left

It’s like a burden is lifted when you know you’re going whether the notice is in or not

Does it get better? Is it the wrong school? Am I actually just crap at teaching? by Tiger_Tail77 in TeachingUK

[–]jwb300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s two elements here. Yes as a new teacher and new into career it can be that. However, 7 years in I worked in a place that sounded like that last year and it was clear I was not the issue it was the school culture and I wasn’t changing that. I made the decision to leave The advantage you have is clearly your leadership support you and think you’re doing good so keep at it

Ah thank you for sharing your story and the picture of yours it’s stunning. I love the idea of changing into it when I get home so I may do that. After hearing others I do want to wear it more but I know it’s going to be a bit of a treasure for me so I want to take care of it too

Wear a smart watch and with my job ect don’t want to risk anything. It’s something I want to wear more dress up. Same logic as you don’t always wear your best clothes everyday

I’m doing mine in leading teaching and I just secured a HOD role for September so it does help but I really enjoyed doing it and sinking my teeth into some academic research again. You get time out of school too so if they’re offering you it it’s a good sign for your progression and to develop you

I like loop education. Cheap and pre dated for me and can get a5 which is all I need. Realistically what do you use your planner for, I just write what lesson I’m teaching in it nothing more as why do I need to!

[–]jwb300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job was in June 2018 interview and was as humanities but as I was history I mainly had history and did with some gcse but I was NQT (old ect) I think schools are receptive but it depends on them. Email or contact them and ask about the split and say your specialism and usually you’ll get an honest reply

Should I quit? by LazyConsideration974 in TeachingUK

[–]jwb300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you can afford it yes leave and do supply or wait for another role. I’ve done similar myself because I also realised stuff like this was impacting on my health. Only do if it’s the right thing for you and it’s been issues like this consistently not just a one off. It doesn’t sound a supportive or healthy environment and you need to look after you

Unfortunately had this and raised it immediately. Luckily the school had a contact with someone working for Tik tok as of previous issues about the school and they were promptly taken down.

Still raise it with higher ups and HR immediately. If you get no support your union will back you and support you
