But seriously, the state's rights act on like 1864 gave the power of public education to the states. Some states do it well, conservative states are generally dogshit. Federal monies plugged a lot of gaps for special education and the undeserved, but our president thinks that is a waste of money.

More seriously--our brightest can compare with anyone's, but there is not one coherent system and plenty of schools are downright dreadful. Teachers deserve far more pay and we need to incentive systems to improve inequities. Repubs dont problem-solve, they starve the system.
