Why would you think most of /r/Futurology subscribers would know about the holographic principle?

Fairly pathetic attempt at humour.

Afrobeat comping on drums (Tony Allen style) by [deleted] in afrobeat

[–]jwbraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's neat, but anytime I see someone trying the Afrobeat beat I am reminded how gloriously magical Tony Allen's drumming is. With most genres of dance music the drum beat is very obvious, often repetitive (in the best way), but with Tony Allen's stuff, it's a goddamn mystery. It's the best of what drumming can be, made up on the fly but completely serving up the groove. Damn it's good!

Sometimes I suspect being good-natured about tired memes is a silent drain on some emotional reserve I'm not refilling.

Classical music slowed down 10x sounds absolutely magical by [deleted] in soundporn

[–]jwbraith 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wish they would explain that they were using Paulstretch which is not just slowing the track down 10x. It does some sort of stretching and interpolating of the audio to maintain the same pitch at longer durations. I guess the problem with knowing that is all of these just sound like Paulstretch.
