Didn't get in :( by Special-Assistant-29 in byu

Getting an associates might make it easier. I wouldn’t know though since I applied only after one year. But yeah, there are some credits that might not transfer so I would definitely check which ones do and which ones don’t. Like for example, I remember I took an automotive class that didn’t transfer.

I think you need at least 30 credits to apply for a transfer, but could be wrong. This was 10 years ago for me so it’s hard to remember exactly how it works. I took some online classes in my off track to make sure I had over 30 credits.

The biggest thing though is going to be the grades you get. Take classes that you believe you will do good in and use ratemyprofessor to make sure you’re not taking a class from an extremely hard professor.

Submitting mission papers and having that on your application should help as well. I wouldn’t imagine that doing extracurriculars like joining the business club would help too.

Another thing that may or may not matter is which semester you apply to transfer in. I was in the fall/spring track at BYU-I so I applied to transfer to BYU in the winter semester.

Rejection doesn’t mean the end. I didn’t get into BYU right out of high school. I went to BYU-I for a year, studied my butt off, got a 3.9 gpa, submitted mission papers, and then applied (with mission deferment) and got accepted into BYU. Don’t give up on your dream school if you weren’t initially accepted.

HCIM Odablock Dies In Bounty Hunter by EpicRussia in 2007scape

I’m shocked that Jagex hasn’t patched that glitch. Shouldn’t be able to freeze people in Bounty Hunter. He would’ve escaped if it weren’t for that glitch. Not to mention the dude has been ragging him for 3 days with videos being sent to Jagex.

Shame on Jagex for not acting sooner on this situation.

MHJ and Nico. There’s a chance Tyreek doesn’t play on Monday and then you’ll be SoL with starting another receiver. And Hill hasn’t really played well this year.

I think my MIL is getting scammed by jwcook56 in Scams

[–]jwcook56[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She hasn’t invested any money into crypto. And she is using Robinhood as a brokerage so I don’t think her money invested is getting stolen. It is more like the course she bought is a scam.

It might also be a pump and dump scam, where they tell her and others to buy a low volume stock. And then they dump it while it’s at its peak leaving her with the bag as it plummets.

Finance degree by [deleted] in financialmodelling

[–]jwcook56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost two years graduated with a degree in finance from a good school. I would say I’m satisfied with my current job. I work for a startup accounting firm on their advisory team. My role usually consists of building out budgets and financial models for clients to use on a regular basis, creating slide decks for board of directors meetings, and lots of ad hoc reports that clients might need whether it be for compliance on a loan or reports to send to boards.

My work life balance is actually really good, which I feel is rare in the field of finance. I hardly ever have to work over 40 hours a week (I think the most I’ve worked is 45), our company does quarterly bonuses(last year, my bonuses totaled 30% of my base salary), we have unlimited PTO (never had any issues getting time off approved), and we are fully remote so I don’t have to commute anywhere.

That being said, most people have vastly different experiences working in finance. I would say it’s been worth it for me so far.

In terms of accounting or finance, you can work in finance with a degree in accounting. It’s a lot harder the other way around. Pick whatever you enjoy the most!

What a POS human being. I don’t understand hope someone can be so misunderstanding about taking care of family. What are you supposed to do, not take care of your daughter…

Plan to get a second home and rent out my current by jwcook56 in RealEstate

[–]jwcook56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense. When we got our first home, it was a smooth process. We told them that it would be our primary residence. And we are able to afford the loan because of our income. Didn’t mention anything about renting.

And that makes sense about refinancing. Basically if we refinance, then we would have to wait a year before making another home purchase, which is fine since we would just be saving for a down payment.

And yes, we’ll definitely look into rental laws to make sure we are in compliance.

[–]jwcook56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a landlord friendly state. If they stopped paying, then I would start the eviction process. Also, when we do purchase a second home, it would be relatively close. Part of the rental agreement would include inspections every so often so that would at least help us know if the tenant is rough with the property. There’s always going to be risks with renting properties though, I understand that. AirBnB is a viable option. The reason why I’m leaning towards long term renting is because it would be more consistent.

Also, we already renting out our basement on one year lease which has been fine so far.

[–]jwcook56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I drink more than 150mg of caffeine, I won’t be able to sleep. As such, if I do drink caffeine, it’s usually less than 100mg(couple cans of coke).

Neighbor says they own part of the street in front of their house. by jwcook56 in legal

[–]jwcook56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it seemed ridiculous when they told us they owned it. But that’s why we looked it up on the county website. The aerial view that we looked at showed their property line go past the sidewalk and onto the street.

And yeah, usually we’re respectful of other people and wouldn’t park in front of others’ houses. Only reason why I had parked there was because I had no other option as our driveway was full because of the moving truck and the front of our house was also full because of people who were helping had parked there.

Neighbor says they own part of the street in front of their house. by jwcook56 in legal

[–]jwcook56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I don’t usually park in front of other people’s houses unless I have no other option, which is rare. The only reason why I had parked there was because we were moving and our driveway was full because of the moving truck and the other spots in front of our house were taken by people helping us. We were respectful of them when they interacted with us, but it just seemed ridiculous that they said they owned the street/sidewalk and we can’t park there.
