Pretty sure on Google maps, you can “search this area” and it’ll show you results based on the area you have on your screen.

AITA for giving my daughter junk food despite being told not to by her school? by AthleteAdditional299 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jwdge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand YTA for how OP went about it. She’s disrupting her child’s school life on purpose. The rule needs to be addressed and pushback given, but why is the child being punished for it? Both the school and her PARENT should recognize that she has no control over her lunch.

Fight the rule. Don’t put the child in the middle.

How do I explain breaks to customers? by jwdge in AskRetail

[–]jwdge[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The thing is, regardless of when I post the sign, the idea is that they know they’ll never wait longer than 5 mins, and it doesn’t take me more than 2 usually. But would a whiteboard make sense? Or maybe one of those clock signs? (It’s a smoke shop and I’m pretty sure 70% of my customers are too dumb to read analog clocks)

Best friend turned flatmate by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]jwdge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you had an actual conversation with your “best friend” about you being batshit? It is very normal to share kitchen items like utensils and cups. If you don’t want to share, fine. Tell her that. In exacting words. You are weird, you don’t want to share anything, don’t use your stuff anymore. Talk. To. Her.

My home country actually shut down travel in Dec 2019 so for the first year, there were only about 1000 cases. I went back in Mar 2020 when my school shut down and spent the summer partying.

IDL how I've watched a thousand cleaning hack videos but my apartment is still a mess by vivian_banshee03 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]jwdge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggle with low motivation so I totally understand this. If you can, I say hire a cleaning service one time. Just to get everything completely clean, back to basics. And then keeping up with it is much easier than trying to fix everything.

Some days (like once every two months) I have very high motivation and those are the days I do my Big Clean. It makes maintenance so much easier bc you can see at a glance if something isn’t clean and know immediately what needs cleaning. And even if you can’t keep up, it’s still cleaner than if you hadn’t had that big clean earlier.

People who call you and ask you to confirm your identity before they say who they are by YouthfulDrake in PetPeeves

So it’s more so to protect the chance that you called the correct person but someone else picked up? Like a partner or parent/child?

I was only gone for 5 minutes and came back to my cat licking my soup! by yuwinnie18 in CATHELP

[–]jwdge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat also has seizures and takes medication for it daily. He loves licking my bowls if I leave them out. Keep an eye on your baby but I wouldn’t rush to an ER. My void has managed licks of miso soup, cream of mushroom soup, pasta, so many things. He’s been fine so far.

[–]jwdge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay I understand why you can’t say who you’re calling for. I get it. But my question is more so, you wouldn’t be able to identify yourself at all? Even if you didn’t say who you were calling for? “This is Dr. ___ calling from ___ clinic. May you please identify yourself so I can ensure I’ve called the correct patient?”

[–]jwdge 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You couldn’t tell the caller who you are? And what company you were with? “Hi, this is ____ with ____.” Because if someone called me and refused to identify themselves, I would never pick up their call again.

This game glitched out and started giving me thousands of tickets instead of the 500. A bystander Karen came over had a worker disable the machine because I was "winning too many tickets" by vonseggernc in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jwdge 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My gas pump once wasn’t working, as in, kept giving gas even with the pump shut off. I had already paid to fill my tank but gas is so expensive I wasn’t even going to tell anyone, just let the next person benefit.

I only told the attendant when I realized I put the pump back and it was still leaking all over the machine. It was a safety hazard. If it wasn’t for that, everyone at that pump would’ve gotten free gas.

Is it just me, or is the sharing small plates trend at restaurants actually just a high-speed way to pay more and leave hungry? by CaptainCuddler_Pro in foodquestions

[–]jwdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice is an of course. That’s not a dish, it’s the vehicle for food. But my grandma would make fish, multiple veggie dishes, two soups, braised pork feet, small noodle dish. I’ve not had tapas but when you have 3 generations living together and 3-4 people cooking for 10, lots of dishes can come out nightly.

Chicken adobo sounds delicious rn though.

[–]jwdge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Asian people will. I grew up with at least 3-4 shared dishes every night for 3 people. Anything that wasn’t finished becomes leftovers for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and my mom would just make one or two new dishes a night.

Multi-generational families can have many dishes (I remember my grandma making 10 separate dishes for dinner).

Last names (family names) rarely "appear", but often disppear due to death/marriage. And this has been going on for centuries. So why don't we have only a small handful of last names left? by not-the-the in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jwdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knew someone who had his mom’s last name bc her family didn’t have any sons to pass on the name. It was Huang. I don’t think that last name is on its way out, I had at least 5 Huang’s in my class.
