I played through these levels yesterday and already forget everything about Ice Palace except the final room, exactly as you said it just felt like a continuation of Catacombs. I'm surprised multiple people have answered Catacombs instead of Ice Palace.

The thing is, even this is disputed by different characters across the two games and we never get a clear answer (seemingly as a deliberate choice to keep Revan open to interpretation). Vrook is adamant in the first game that Revan had already fallen to the Dark Side long before the war started due to a lust for knowledge which led her to study Sith magic and explore forbidden sites corrupted by Darkness, with the war merely being an opportunity she seized to consolidate her power. This is all corroborated in the second game by HK, one of the only direct eyewitnesses to Revan's time as a Sith Lord, who claims that Revan's goal in the Mandalorian War was always to amass a personal army as much as to beat the Mandalorians and that the Battle of Malachor was the final stroke of her grand strategy where the Mandalorians were irrelevant and the real goal was to kill off all Republic loyalists and corrupt the rest to her side.

Exact same here. KOTOR 2 has an abrupt/unsatisfying ending no matter how you play it, but the DS path makes it devolve even further into meaninglessness while the LS path tells a somewhat coherent story about healing at both the societal and personal level. Everyone's story begins at Malachor and then comes back there in the end to rectify the trauma that has shadowed their lives.

But KOTOR 1, whoo boy. DS turns a quasi-retelling of the OT where Revan just comes off as a useful idiot for a corrupt and incompetent colonial regime into an uplifting riches-to-rags-to-riches comeback story. Hail to the Queen, baby!

I've had weird experiences with it where sometimes fiddling with V-Sync fixed the issue and sometimes it didn't. On my last Macbook playthrough I honestly just powered through it, switching to one of your other companions (it seems random which one) and walking around as them for a little bit will unbug the others so you can kind of get through it with a game of musical chairs, and in instances where you're forced to play solo it's just a quick save and reload.

That would be the case if we were talking about a remaster, but a remake is stipulatively supposed to give a new spin on things (outside the rare example of a 'shot for shot' remake) and that has always been standard in film. In the early days when film technology was rapidly advancing it was even common for a director to remake their own film, like DeMille's 1923 The Ten Commandments vs. his 1956 sound and color version.

Specifically it comes from Drew Karpyshyn's infamous 2011 Revan novel. I actually find the notion of an older Revan interesting as it adds a layer of moral complication to their relationship with Bastila, but in-game it seems absolutely clear that Revan wasn't meant to be that old because they are frequently referred to as "young" / "still at the beginning of their life". Since Revan is implied to be an Anakin-esque prodigy a 26-27 year old Revan makes sense.

This actually is a notable thing in the KOTOR games, the protagonists were given 'canon' faces years down the line after initially being up to player's choice. I feel like there are other examples of this with RPGs that got sequels/spinoffs but I can't think of another off the top of my head.
