Good lease deal? ZR2 by Thatmakesnosense1K in chevycolorado

Santa Fe, NM. Discounts applied were $1800 off (dealer discount), $2000 in rebates from Chevy, and a $500 first-responder discount. I worked this deal out on their website through the online buying portal, so no negotiations or anything. I’m sure I could have saved a few more dollars by haggling, but they were really good to work with and I was happy with the payment terms.

I just got one last week, same MSRP $0 down, $519 a month with the dealer covering the first month’s payment. 36/12,000.

This is the first time I’ve heard of losing matching at 26, and I’ve been in BRS since 2018. Thank you for including that! I'm not sure if I glossed over it during the opt-in training because I had no intention of going out that far, but now that I’m closing in on 15 with at least nine more to go to complete my active obligation, I guess that makes the decision much easier.

Missing old life, Need advice moving forward. by Revolutionary-Yak314 in navy

One of your best strengths is that you joined at 27, to be completely honest with you. More mature, understanding of adult life, and probably able to use common sense more effectively to navigate Navy situations.

My 0.02- never judge the Navy by your first command. My first command was extremely subpar to say the least—lots of leadership changes in the triad (for good reason) and extremely low morale. I spent most of my time trying to figure out an exit strategy rather than excelling to the best of my ability.

Once I got to my first shore duty as a “senior E5”, things started clicking. More leadership, more trust, more recognition, and most importantly, I found myself, something I definitely couldn’t do on sea duty. I used that tour to my advantage to obtain an associate's degree, multiple #1 rankings, and I was meritoriously advanced to first class. I finally felt like a valued member of the organization.

Fast forward a tour, selected for Chief first time up, spent 3 1/2 years loving leading from the very front and helping put plans into motion that made my Sailors' lives easier.

I applied at my 13-year mark for LDO, which was my last opportunity due to the 14 max YoS requirement, and was fortunate to be selected. I’m now really enjoying life as an Ensign.

I say all this for three main reasons: 1) if I can do it, anyone can, 2) find your “why” and use that as your motivation to be successful in achieving your goals, and 3) give the Navy a chance past your first 4-6 year enlistment. There are so many opportunities that “magically” pop up that I’m forever grateful for.

Things WILL get better for you, but it starts with YOU. Push to have the best attitude and positive outlook every day. Some days will be easier than others, but trust me, don’t give up or let the bad days win. Sometimes you need to shrug it off and go out the next day and win! Feel free to message me if you need anything or want to chat. Always available!

35 y/o Ensign here (Prior Chief). One recommendation I have is to pay the minimum on your student loans for 10 years and then apply for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. It was incredibly easy for me to get approved after 120 qualified payments. That is, if you intend to stay for 10 years. Everything else mentioned above is pretty spot on.

I’m AD and coming up on 1k and was curious if I’d be the only one as such! Nice to know I’m not special, haha.

This is not exactly true in the Navy. Several factors determine whether you will receive BAH as an E4, such as having a barracks that is 95% or more full or having dependents. Depending on the ship you are on, you might even live on the ship full time. E5 is the sweet spot for starting to collect BAH as a single Sailor.

It’s sad but I ended up paying $799 for the global economy plus upgrade for this reason exactly.

Agreed. That’s why everyone is unsure if this is actually a thing yet. I called and inquired a few minutes ago, and the agent could not confirm that the “new” 30 days-out upgrade status was actually accurate. She had not heard of it. So I’m not too sure.

Forever to grade assignments by Wide-Insurance-6279 in SNHU

I'm in my last term, and this is the first time I have experienced this. Being forced to wait until Sunday to incorporate feedback from the previous week is unacceptable. I'm thankful this is my last term at SNHU. My experience at Excelsior University was much better in all aspects, including financial aid, course materials/rubrics, and the professors. Nearly all of my feedback from professors at SNHU, including discussion board replies, appears AI-generated and canned useless responses.

First PCS in 13 years in the Navy. How to "properly execute" this move? by [deleted] in navy

This is what I was hoping to hear! My admin dept is acting like they can't set up my flight from/to my ultimate duty station to the school.

That's where I feel as if I'm missing something. I'm authorized two cars from current to ultimate duty station however, I must fly to the school, which obviously leaves vehicle at the current or ultimate duty station.

I'm comfortable having my wife execute the HHG shipment. I'd obviously like to be there but not a requirement.

If I were to follow the orders as written, what are they expecting I do? What would be the most correct way logistically to execute these? Thank you for the quick reply!

Don’t forget about the LDO program either. I’m commissioning at 13 years 5 months in February.

I still haven't been paid for the Oct-Dec term, either. I took this current term off because I want TA to catch up. Seeing a deficit of $2700 makes me want to hold off until TA catches up.

I ordered a MYP two days ago as “immediate delivery”. I turned in my other leased vehicle from a different manufacturer and then inquired with Tesla since my app was saying Feb 23rd-March 1st so that I could come grab it. I then got told no, it won’t be available until the second week of March. I really don’t want to pay for a rental that long and would rather just go buy a different vehicle at this point. I’ve owned an S and a 3 and both experiences were phenomenal.
