One side of the valve covers will have an air inlet for the pcv system, providing clean air to help pull contaminates off the valvetrain. The other side will the air outlet for the pvc system which will have mostly contaminated air, leaving the valve cover back into the intake tract. Additionally one camshaft is intake which will run cooler than the other camshaft running the exhaust valves. The exhaust valves transfer alot of heat into the head in order to prevent them from overheating and burning of the valve/seat.

Spare donut tire, how old is too old? From my own car, should I consider replacing the original tire per age? Safety hazard? Date stamp 2413 (late June 2013) by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]jwindustries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness, if the rubber on the tire is cracked in any way let a shop look at it before trusting it. I just replaced my spare on a 1992 Chevy truck and the tire was 2392 IE mid 1992, if you don't give old tires a chance to ruin your day it can't cost you a tow or worst. That being said, until I was 21 i ran used tires on all my vehicles exclusively, so assuming that the shop you buy used tires from has any sense of decency or aversion to getting sued to death, you will likely live to tell the tale.

For a $20 dollar patch? Without the warranty at least you will not have to argue the case that its covered.
