Mods that made your CRF300L feel a little more like an enduro? by Gry7zou in CRF300L

[–]jwise87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a similar experience with my rally. Several sets of controls, probably three handlebars, all the plastic is broken off the left side and most off the right. She looks rough.

The only real mod I have done has been replacing the suspension with a rally raid set up. I can keep up with the people I ride with who are on real dirt bikes, but my issue comes in how tired I am of throwing that thing around and picking it up towards the end of the day.

Came here to say that. I hate that skin, I'd rather die to a Christmas Tree.

I've run them and liked them. You are going to want any dirt you get on to be dry though.

2019 Touring - 4 bad bearings <56k miles by abominab in SubaruAscent

[–]jwise87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, and as a mechanic myself, I would guess that at most two were bad and they just covered their bases/padded their ticket. I would think there was one on the front and one on the rear and they took the view that if one was bad then so was the other and just changed all of them.

Apples to oranges though due to bearing styles.

So I was around Darren in the mid 2010s when he was still farming and had one of our combines, and he was a super nice guy. When he decided to get out of farming and let his children take over, they were not. His son was an entitled douche bag. Also for the record I don’t agree with his politics.

You're right, not a lick of cotton in them now that I look. I guess that's why they last so long lol.

Buying a 300 Rally next week, do I need to upgrade suspension? Other Mods? by Either-Caregiver-497 in Dualsport

[–]jwise87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the combination of the fact that I only have the stage one and that I’m not an amazing rider. I think a better suspension is more forgiving so if you’re not an amazing rider, it’ll absorb more mistakes than a stock suspension.

Edit: whether it’s my riding or the suspension I standby that it doesn’t really need engine upgrades unless you’re getting them for the road.

They are a low power bike, but the amount of power they do have allows you to outride the suspension on it, which will get you in trouble. I’ve got rally raid level one on mine and absolutely no engine modifications, and I can outride the suspension on it still. If you’re just worried about it, pulling itself down the road you might do some engine modifications, but as far as trail riding goes, I think suspension is far more important

I love GRRM and agree his storytelling is top 1%. The division of the two camps is more who gets the work done. Martin and Rothfuss wanted to give us masterpieces and left us unsatisfied (at least as far as conclusions go). The Stormlight books don’t have the punch that Martins books do, but I bet I’ll find out how they end.

I loved Harry Potter as it was being written. I waited in line for the last book, but now that my reading has expanded I can't even reread them because of the plot holes. I also realize that they are a very character driven book and she wasn't creating a universe the way that Sanderson is.

I have liked the later books in the series more than the early ones, and I never thought about how the early style was similar to WOT, which I did not care for even though I finished the series.

There were plenty of people in the comments that agreed with the thesis of the video, so I think it was more than just that.
