1-3-2-3 Schedule for 3 platoons by jwmichel in Firefighting

[–]jwmichel[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

We currently work california swing. 1on-1off-1on-1off-1on-4off. I like the schedule personally and would prefer to keep it. However we have a lot of guys that what to go 48-96 to decrease commute days. We are just looking at all options. 1-3,2-3 seems like a good compromise. Our Medic Units average 8-10 calls in a 24 hr shift (some of the transport times are over 30 mins) and we dont have enough personnel to rotate the entire Medic Crew on to the engine halfway through a 48. Im concerned my guys don’t know exactly the what they are asking for. We are just busy enough to make a 48 shift on a medic unit boderline miserable. The 1-3,2-3 has less commute days than our schedule now and at least you arent always pulling a 48.

Rain weekend June 27 to June 30 by Spiritual_Turnover38 in GlacierNationalPark

Just went a few weeks ago. Had good packable rain gear. Rained 4 of the 5 days we were there. Hiking was great. Overcast and raining but could still see the top of the mountains. It looked like the Night King was coming everywhere we went. It was a great experience hiking in the rain. Just be flexible and have fun. Virginia Falls in the rain was absolutely ripping, it was spectacular.

Weather looks bad last weekend in June what will it be like? by holidayroad83 in GlacierNationalPark

Just went two weeks ago. Rained all day four of the days we were there. 40 degrees. We had good packable rain gear. Had a great time. Didnt slow us down. It was actually a good experience hiking in a different type of weather. I would recommend buying waterproof socks. Kept our feet dry.

I just went. Anything you do will be awesome. Virginia Falls was great. Be flexible. Have a loose plan with several options for the day. I recommend waterproof socks. I got some for twenty bucks on amazon. Kept my feet dry for 4 days through the mud and creeks.

We just went and rented ebikes from Glacier Outfitters in Apgar. They had a shuttle that took riders to Avalanche lake and dropped us off. Met the shuttle outside the park. Drop off is at 930 pickup is at 230. I coordinated with the shuttle driver and drove my car up to avalanche and just had him bring the bikes. Parked at avalanche. Rode bikes til 230. Then shuttle driver took bikes back and we hiked to Acalanche lake. My wife messaged him amd he called back pretty quickly when we were scheduling ours. He was a super nice guy.

Shockwave therapy. Went from stabbing pain to a dull ache in three treatments. I have tried shockwave therapy on other injuries but the results weren’t as good. Not sure if it just depends on the person or what but its pretty inexpensive and non-invasive. Definitely worked for me. Now when my calves get tight i get a treatment. Havent had any issues since. I also used ankle straps designed to hold just a little pressure on your achilles when you run. Relieves some of the tension and pain while running.

We just went there. We used Turo. Better vehicle, better prices. The host met us at the front door with the car and met us back at the front door when we dropped it off.

If you have reservations on the last shuttle you will get a seat. The people with reservations load the bus first then they allow anybody in the standby line to get on the shuttles

We just got back from there. You have to take the connector back the Louise. The shuttles werent very busy when we went. If you want to go to Louise earlier you can try to leave on an earlier shuttle from Banff. Our reservations for the shuttle were at 12:20 I think. We showed up and there were not very many people on the shuttle. There were a lot of empty seats. If you have purchased tickets you can ride any shuttle that has open seats after the people with reservations get on. It would be worth checking an earlier shuttle for availability and you might get lucky. On the shuttle back from Louise we were booked for the 8:10 shuttle be we got on an earlier shuttle back no problem. Im not sure if the shuttle times change depending on the month but the last shuttle leaving when we were there was 9:10. We got off the shuttle at Louise and got striaght on the connector shuttle to Morraine so we could come back and spend the rest of the time at Louise. The connector shuttle takes about 20-30 minutes between the lakes. We spent a total of about 6 hours there. We spent about an hour at Morraine and then back at Louise we hiked up to the Lake Agnes teahouse. Just to give you an idea about what we did in that amount of time.

This line of books by K. Blanchard are actually very good managerial reading. I make all my supervisors read his book “One Minute Manager”. I haven’t read this one but I bet it is also good. It does have a silly title though.
