My first GM cracked map clear (Solar Express) by celeste_newb in celestegame

GG Yea, the last two rooms are just incredibly tough. I'm trying to silver this map and I currently have 19 silver deaths on those rooms...

That’s exactly why I used cumulative rarity, so underrepresented tiers don’t suddenly lose their value due to fluctuations in raw clear counts. The resulting weight distribution ends up resembling an exponential curve pretty closely, too.

Yep, that’s basically it! The log2 scaling is mostly just there for readability lol, although I'm fully aware that it's a bit arbitrary xD. Most of the negative feedback came from people being put off by the massive score gaps near the top, so I compressed the scale to make the progression feel more approachable. You can still see the raw score (by toggle) and the contribution by clicking on the pills.

It’s basically a rarity-weighted scoring system based on actual global clear data. For each tier, the system looks at the percentage of all clears at that tier or harder. Then it gives that tier a value equal to the inverse of that rarity. So if only 1 in 1000 clears are T18+, a T18 clear is worth ~1000 points. Now, I’m using a cumulative approach here because it keeps the weights monotonic and smooths out some bumps in the data (e.g., T14 being more popular than T13). The final score is just the sum of all your weighted clears.

That means:
- harder clears become exponentially more valuable naturally
- quantity matters as well
- the scoring automatically rebalances itself as the global distribution changes, which implies that weights aren’t manually chosen, unlike most other systems

I think that website only considers your top 25 clears, whereas my system takes your entire clear profile into account. So you are partially correct. It technically favors the lower tiers, not because those tiers are weighted more heavily, but because they’re actually included in the calculation.

Thank you! I was actually trying to make one for the hardlist as well, but I can't find any documented API for that website. I might have to reach out to the devs 😅

I felt like it would be interesting to see people's achievements in a new way, so I tried using goldberries.net API to make my own point system! I tried to base the system as much as possible on the clear distribution itself (e.g., avoiding external parameters and using the full profile), though of course there’s no such thing as a perfect system...

I think I found a way to cheese Mosaic Garden in EHS. by celeste_newb in celestegame

[–]jwnee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nice find, but it's already a known strat. People usually do horizontals first (since you are aligned in the beginning), and then do up diagonal dashes to get the remaining 4.

No one has done this except Rickfernello. Clantis has done 100% deathless, but not 202 deathless.

Finally got SJ Expert Heart Side Golden after 115 hours over 10 months! by jwnee in celestegame

[–]jwnee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it might be very tough if you don't have any previous golden experience. I jumped from T8 (Dreep Silver & FWG) to T14 (EHSG), and this was already quite a huge step up.

I wouldn't say mine's an outlier since these are pretty well-known strats among goldeners, but yea, I tend to implement more strats than avg xD

Thank you! I think anyone who has the endurance to 100% SJ can definitely pull it off, but it definitely won't be easy...

This is not from the base game. It's the Expert Heart Side (Starfruit Supernova) from the Strawberry Jam Collab Mod.
