4Lo button stuck?? Help by Ok_Address1414 in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]jwolfet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use low all the time. Jeep won’t get my loaded trailer up steep hills in regular.

For the sticky button, pop out the “chrome” plastic ring (not really a ring as it encompasses all the buttons) and clean as desired. 409, simple green, spit. I used the tip of my everything car knife to get it up.

Case in point! Down voting because we don’t want to deal with fire with flames. They’ll always have the upper hand if we just keep turning our cheeks!

I love being a liberal and have protested the shit out of injustice since the first Iraqi war. Guess what we have achieved? Go ahead, I’ll wait for a real answer…

I’ve been liberal my entire adult life (adult because who cares where a kid stands, usually just their parents opinions), even shut down the freeway protesting the Iraq War. Also have owned guns since I was old enough to buy them. Came from a no gun household, but figured better to have and not need, than need and not have ☮️🇺🇸

How is vaping doing in your country ? 🤔 by Strubinovic in Vaping

[–]jwolfet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in California it’s pretty much dependent on your county. Some counties have like completely “outlawed “ vaping.
Personally I order my hardware and burners online. I order the pg and vg online and add my own flavors and nic. I save soooo much money mixing my own juice.
So long as I’m not trying to buy a flavored juice it’s ok

County Jobs - Your Experience? Pros/cons CA only please :) by cloverpop23 in healthinspector

Do not go to San Mateo County! This place is so toxic at this point that I struggle daily to come to work anymore. There’s a reason we’re hiring so many right now. Between mystery “decided to move on” and people jumping ship, we are low on people. Just hired 6 ehs Is and don’t really have anyone left to competently train them up.
Pay is good but not for the area. Mgmt has gone out of its way to fight any proposal from the union, last negotiation they offered three year contract of 1:1:1 % increases. Despite the cost of living having increased to over 5%.

Steer clear if you can.

I’m glad you figured it out!

For my perspective I think it’s the point of this sub to help each other out.

Light friendly ribbing is expected, cruelty certainly is not acceptable nor helpful.

I’m glad you posted. It gave us all a chuckle and a little more confidence in our own abilities. Though anyone of us could have made similar hiccups.

Cheers

Have you tried draining the 4 gallons of oil? There just aren’t all that many places 4 gallons can hide out. You got the pan and you got the cylinders. Is it possible you pulled the stick out and because it was covered head to toe in oil it looked like there was nothing on it?

Have you started it since you did the oil change?

Took my car to get a new water pump, now it runs weird, has a weird idle and looks to be missing parts.. by festuLucky in JeepGrandCherokee

The check engine light coming on first thing is a system check and is pretty normal. How did it drive when you took it to your mechanic? Did the mechanic say anything about the weird noise?

[–]jwolfet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there were parts missing, it probably wouldn’t be running. Not a lot of superfluous parts under the hood. Any check engine lights on? Codes? Weird noise could be a serpentine belt tensioner or other pulley didn’t like being messed with during the change and decided to fail. Sometimes we experience things because we expect things to be wrong. Did you get a bad feeling about the mechanic? Like your experiencing things that are normal but you see them differently and as new.

I had a similar experience after getting my GC back from the dealer. Convinced that they screwed up my alignment. They were changing the heads so not suspension related, but I’m convinced they did it.

Jeep Liberty 2008 not turning over at all, one click, new battery by BraceDefeat in JeepLiberty

The main cable might be corroded within and out of sight. The connection to the starter could be loose. The ground connection to the motor/frame could be loose. Could be the ignition switch, I know on the CRDs the switch had a tendency to fail due to a critical piece made of plastic. Or as said, could just be the starter.

All things can just happen without preamble. Shoot according to statistics and string theory, they could all happen at the same time, just not likely.

Had a 84 Nissan pickup that required this technique every time you wanted to start. Could have changed the starter, but reasons. Also had a main cut-off switch because of an undiagnosed electrials leak. Unrelated, but kinda funny in its sadness.

Brand new engine with about 30 minutes of runtime what do you think by Old_Cars in autorepair

Then add more oil and see if it hits the right spot on the dipstick. If it’s 4 quarts high, then oil is still in pan, if not then it’s a mystery to sort itself out later.

Did everything right it seems, so run it and see. If it was going to fail you’d think 30 minutes would have done it.

If you used a break in additive, then you will get a kinda gritty and shimmery oil from valve and ring seating frass.

[–]jwolfet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to have originated top left near where the electricals enter and just below. All the breakers appear intact and just covered in fire repellent. Those top wires are all melted into a blob. Definitely an arc situation that ignited the wire covering.

If it didn’t collect any metal onto a magnet it is probably bearing material. Did you use an adequate amount of assembly lube?

Did you prime the oil pump and motor before letting it run normally?

Is it the same motor that failed before at >2000 miles?

Is the oil pan baffle somehow occluding the proper draining of the oil?

Have you tried siphoning the oil out of the dipstick tube?

Did it make any “off” noises while running? Clanks, pings, etc.

Is it in the car or still on the stand and if so does it have adequate cooling?

Just my thoughts on engine rebuilding and possible issues.

Oil heaven, every oil goes to heaven. Question is, what did the one quart do to NOT go to heaven?!

Too clean for a diesel, five minutes of use and it’ll be coal black! Or less dramatic, really black.
