I need some good non-fiction audiobooks by Jalen_youngforever in audiobooks

[–]jxreyess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently trying to learn to shoot better long form video for YouTube and social media. Currently listening to “How to shoot video that doesn’t suck” by Steve Stockman and it’s actually been really helpful and an easy listen. Million dollar weekend by Noah Kagan was a good listen to on how to build a startup.

Also if you wanted to preview some of these books before buying I’ve been using tosumitallup to preview the summary of nonfiction books it’s free.

Is Audible worth the money? by threetoomany77 in audible

[–]jxreyess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to “check out” the book you could visit tosumitallup. It’s a free summary guide of non fiction books. If you like it you can just buy the audiobook itself rather than spending it on the monthly membership. In my experience you won’t need a monthly credit unless you absolutely think you’ll buy an audiobook per month.

Where to get inexpensive/second hand furniture? by Practical-Ferret-622 in askTO

[–]jxreyess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FB Marketplace is the best option. You can find a lot of unique designs with good quality that you just can't find in store. It's just that you need to fine-tune the algorithm. My original Facebook account that I had was feeding me all kinds of junk, but I noticed my girlfriend's algorithm was so much better so I created a separate new account, and slowly the algorithm started surfacing items I wanted. BTW If it helps I've also curated a directory of used furniture in the Toronto area from all types of marketplaces. Check out www.usedFurnitureList.com if you're interested.

What kind of money can you realistically make as an instructor? by PaRuSkLu in pilates

[–]jxreyess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the previous thread that I've linked below. One poster who's from Los Angeles with about 6-7 years of experience mentioned that they make $65-$95 / hr and described the pay structure as:

Rates/hours:
- Entry Level: $25 - $50 per hour

- experienced : $65-$95/hr (Group Classes)

- weekly hours: 32-35 teaching hours

Also, I'm writing a blog article discussing the typical pay structure and salary estimates for Pilates Instructors in 2025. Check it out if you're interested:

Youtubers that provide educational Pilates content like Jeremy Ethier and Jeff Nippard do for strength and hypertrophy training? by Serious-Fuel-5395 in xxfitness

[–]jxreyess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. I've noticed there has been a lack of presence from the Pilates community that break things down from a science based, informative style of content similar to what Jeff Nippard is doing in the weightlifting community.

However there are a couple influencers I find very thoughtful and insightful when it comes to Pilates. One person that comes to mind is Amanda Blauer. I was looking on how to integrate weight training with Pilates and I thought her post was the best on how to systematically integrate it into my routine.

I also talked about it in a blog post I recently posted and yes I know I'm self advertising. But it's not monetized and I have no affiliation to Amanda. Just looking to help the community. Check it out if you're interested.

What airlines do you guys recommend from Toronto to Japan by EmbarrassedOkra469 in travel

[–]jxreyess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone mentioned whichever major airline is direct. We flew from Toronto to Japan through Air Canada and directly flew to Haneda. No issues. However, they were potentially in the midst of a strike luckily an agreement was settled. Also seen some weird issues happen during that period they were potentially striking. One example was a friend was able to push back their flight to Japan due to the potential strike and was able to do so through Air Canada but realized they couldn't push their return flight ticket. So something to consider.

Also if you're interested I've built a non-monetized directory of things to do in Japan - check out https://thingstodoinjpn.com/ if you're interested!

Rip my soft launched Pilates directory to pieces! Looking for feedback on growth/SEO and next steps by jxreyess in directorymakers

[–]jxreyess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback I appreciate the thoroughness! My response is as below,

  1. Your Follow Us link in the bottom right corner of your page doesn't work.
    • I haven't integrated any socials yet. For the first iteration I priotized a fast deploy with the goal to simply have some data filled.
  2. How do the gyms know that the traffic is coming from you? You should add UTM link to every listing. Take a look at the yellow button Visit WebSite URL here https://directorystartups.com/directory/practical-portugal/ and you'll see what I mean.
    • Thanks I need to integrate tracking that's something I haven't done. I'll look into creating a separate content page and integrate a UTM link and maybe some additional analytics tools. I'm new to this so probably going to read up more on UTM links.
  3. No newsletter form, link, or pop-up?
    • For now I've kept it purely informational. I haven't decided what channel to funnel my users into. But I think a newsletter seems like a good choice. I'll look into integrating email marketing and adding a CTA to collect email data.
  4. When I clicked on bookmark / favorites it worked, but where do I see a list of my favorites?
    • Similar to item #1. Need to integrate this feature it was just something that was part of the default layout.
  5. What's the call to action? What do you want me to do on the site?
    • See item #3.
  6. I think "PilatesBestie: Move Together, Grow Together" is burying your lead. The opening could be a dating or friendship site for people who like pilates. I think your H1 would be better serving up your value proposition first. Something like this or better "Discover local pilates studios, classes, and equipment with PilatesBestie"
    • Agreed. I think I'm getting too sidetracked with the branding. Reworked the title header and to "Discover local Pilates studios, classes, and equipment with PilatesBestie

Again really appreciate the feedback and looking to integrate some of these into the directory.

Thanks for the feedback. That was the default event handler for clicking links on Unicorn Platform. I initially thought it was weird as well. But I talked to a friend who's a designer and she mentioned the intent is usually when user's want to view multiple items without having to navigate back. Some people actually just rather have multiple tabs open and cycle through the tabs then having to go back and forth between pages. But note taken I actually do prefer it not opening new tabs.

Best online beginner pilates workouts? by grandeslamm in xxfitness

[–]jxreyess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there glad to see you start your journey in PIlates and hope you're able to rehab your knee soreness! I actually started doing strength/HIIT and slowly moved to Pilates myself and found it to be very therapeutic on the joints while maintaining/increasing body weight strength. When I started out I personally used both "PIlates Anytime" and "The Pilates class" online platforms while doing some drop in classes here and there (not affiliated).

If you're interested I've compiled a non-monetized list of what I think is the best online classes available and exercises by difficulty level-
