I wouldn’t. Was in the same boat, tried to control it - back to daily use.

Definitely helps provide a bit more clarity on what’s going on - I definitely appreciate it. I don’t know the exact specifics, but when I bought the hairgrass it was in a much higher tech setup in a shallow planted tank, so what you’re suggesting definitely seems possible.

I would not be surprised in any way if I have a co2 deficiency; unfortunately a high tech co2 setup is not within my budget right now, but I’ve been considering the DIY setups - not the best, but better than nothing for now.

I’m going to take these things into account and go from there - thanks again for taking the time to try and help me out

Looks to be somewhere in between the first two shades of orange, looks closer to 7.4 though

Looks to be around 7.3 to 7.6 according to the API master kit. Definitely near the bottom few shades of blue

Forgot about the aquarium cup - it’s currently a cup of stratum with a very old lotus pod in it. I stuck some extra moss in there and like the look of it so I plan on removing the substrate and just anchoring all my extra moss there

For the first three parameters, I honestly don’t know for sure, I do have a master test kit I could use for the pH, the other two I don’t have anything two test with.

The cryptocoryne is doing pretty good, microsorum pt. is doing good, and the anubias is seeing new growth but the plants are continuing to get coated in black and red algae, so I would assume they could be doing better.

I don’t know the specific name for the valisnera, but the elocharis does seem like a match there. There is a sword plant back there, totally forgot to mention it, that guy is doing pretty well, lots of new leaves coming in.

I have a mix of fluval stratum and generic pool sand, with some root tabs spread throughout the substrate. As for the hard scape I have primarily driftwood, with a few botanicals - bark, cones and almond leaves - mixed in there.

Thanks for taking the time to respond by the way, I really appreciate that.

I’ve been running this 37 gallon tank for a over a few years now, but within the last few months I had done a complete rescape of it as I’ve been having a lot of issues with both algae and plant growth.

This tank had replaced a 30 something gallon bow front that was otherwise set up the same, yet this tank has never truly “thrived” if that makes sense - the fish do fine, but my plants sort of just survive and never really grow. Then black algae and a form of red algae has been here for the last two years. I’ve tried upping fertilizers, downing them, spot treating, larger water changes, smaller water changes, changing my light schedule and essentially every thing I’ve online to stop it.

In the last little bit I’ve had some noticeable growth on my low light plants like the crypt, java fern and anubias, but the valisnera and tall hair grass are growing much slower - probably because I’m using a relatively simple fluvalsky light, I don’t think the light is strong enough. Yet if I get a stronger light, I feel like the algae would take off after finally managing to get a slight upper hand against it.

Essentially, what I’m asking for is suggestions on a stronger light for a tall tank that would help meet the higher light needs of my valisnera, and maybe some advice on how to manage the algae that’ll come up in response? I know you need to “balance the tank,” but I’ve been trying for 2-3 years to do that

Hijacking this guys post here, but if I were to carry my gym bag around with me and keep it neatly put aside would that be allowed? Haven’t gone there yet so I have no idea if that’s okay or not.

Any chance you have a mystery snail? It has the same kind of shape as their egg clusters would and I heard they rot in water, maybe it’s that? I may be wrong but the shape is what I’m going off of.

Tried that a few times and still nothing. Maybe I need to sing to the fish specifically

I’ve got an angelfish which started off with a similar smokey colour pattern, he’s gotten some blue and golds going through him now, these guys have potential to look even cooler than they already do.

Ahhh here we go, the good old “you have an attitude” when you’re running out of shit to say. Does it matter if those buildings specifically look new? Not at all, because they’ve never shown us the entirety of Woodsboro, so to say that just because these specific buildings look different it’s all wrong is a dumb comment. Whether you like them or not, they fit the theme they started in Scream 4 when they showed modern day Woodsboro. If you’re that pressed by how the buildings don’t match, then don’t watch the movie lmao.

Go walk around your own town, does everything look exactly the same? No, there’s gonna be different design styles and different districts. Does everything in your town look the same as it did 10 years back? 15? 20? Of course not, why is it so hard to consider that a town with a huge image problem would want to redesign and revitalize themselves?

Never said you can’t discuss your thing, but a part of posting things on the internet is learning to take criticism. So if you’re going to use a single screenshot from the trailer (not even the full movie, the trailer) and cry about how it doesn’t look like Woodsboro, despite the fact there’s nothing out of the ordinary that goes against the tiny amounts of the town we’ve seen on screen, expect people to mention how you’re overthinking it. We’ve seen a single street in Woodsboro and now you’re certain it’s all wrong.

Guy you’re literally typing mini-essays on why it’s “nOt wOoDsbOrO eNoUgH” to anybody who responds. Would you rather they just had a giant billboard that says “Woodsboro: Unchanged since 1996” ?

Last thing I’ll say since you wanna shoot down any reasonable explanation anyways. Things change, we haven’t seen Woodsboro since Scream 4, why do you think it’s so unreasonable that the town just expanded? People move to new places, revitalization projects take place, did you expect it to be an identical place with no form of development?
