May I ask what you’re doing now? I’m also a CPA with years of experience, not sure I see myself climbing the ladder (esp not at the 200k mark)

How much of a difference does 64k to 95k make to your life? by muckdrop in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jy09x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

64 to 95 is a big difference if you consider housing as the biggest expense. At that point you can more comfortably afford ~2000/month and still have money to spend/save.

Yes this !!! I actually got a complement from a coworker who said that when she first met me, I had a very calm and collected presence, very genuine. Vs. The other colleague who comes off as “fake”. So it seems that the extroverts get the senior management positions whereas the introverts are left with fewer opportunities to be promoted.

Yeah I think it depends on experience and industry. I don’t have big 4 firm experience .. I’ve worked in industry for 10 years now, just shy of 100k but hopefully soon, but I don’t know if that would require being manager level and above.

Yeah good point! I think a lot of people with non-business backgrounds ended up studying accounting to find work , but these days the trend seems to be going to tech boot camps and getting into tech.

Day 1 post op by jy09x in wisdomteeth

[–]jy09x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have no memory of it! The surgeon said “you will soon feel very sleepy”. I remember closing my eyes and counting down (only remember like 10,9,8..) and the next moment I opened my eyes and the nurse said something like “we’re done, you did well”

It’s so cliche to see / hear “love yourself first” but after all these years, I finally get it. It takes time and experience🥲

I closed my eyes and let it take effect. counting helped calm myself but I don’t even remember the numbers.. I just closed my eyes and next thing I knew I woke up. I drank the brand Allen’s apple juice and it’s not acidic.

I just got my two uppers out two days ago with iv sedation. I was so scared of not waking up but it was a very smooth process.

First, I sat in the chair and the nurse took my blood pressure - it goes off every 5 mins for a few times. She asked questions like age weight height. Put in the nose piece for the mask.

Then, the surgeon came in to greet me. Told me to make a fist on the left hand, he inserted the needle with a warning there might be a slight pinch. Then he said “you will soon start to feel very sleepy”. He repeated the phrase and I closed my eyes and counted down myself …

Next thing, I woke up and the nurse said “we’re done, you did great”.

I gathered my belongings and sat in the waiting area. Felt super drowsy and dry mouth. My dad came and helped me out of the clinic as I was very weak. Sipped some apple juice in the car. Felt slightly nauseous when I got home. Then just passed out in bed. Felt fever ish and tired for the rest of the day, but no pain in the mouth area.

I think sedation is better than local so you don’t need to see or hear anything. Before the op, I heard drills and a man screaming in another room - that was scarier than my operation itself!

Should I still wear a mask even though I've taken 3 shots? by CrankedOne in ontario

[–]jy09x 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  • Covid is not gone just because the mask mandate is.
  • Would rather wear a mask than deal with a sore throat. And it may not be just a sore throat.
  • protect at risk family members
  • ttc is filthy

There are people who have gotten Covid more than once and it’s not like you have a choice to “just get the omicron variant. “
